Just let the Edge decide & make them post it per the rules, so all the teams can prepare.
MPS actually does not have any rules regarding the release of field layouts before an event. Whether or not the layout is pre-released is entirely up to the host field at each event.

Any ideas on what to do to encourage more L1 participation? Right now it would appear to be a negative to play in L1. Not many teams to play against and more expensive. It's almost like you get penalized by winning L2 tourneys and don't get to play locally anymore.

maybe just drop l2 and just make it an "open" class with certain restrictions?

also edge guys!!!! do you think you will have a practice the weekend before the tourney with the layout up?

We'll have to check with Matte about the practice. Sounds like a good idea. I've got the layout drawn and scanned. I just need my guys to double check that I wasn't riding the short bus and missed something. It'll be posted by Friday.

Hey guys this is Matte with The Edge Paintball Adventures. I know Tyler and Seth were working on the field layout yesterday. I just got back from New Mexico so sorry I have not chimmed in much. So here is some responses to answer some questions.

Field Layout will be posted by Friday.

Practice field #2 will have the layout Untill the event and then the set up will be on Field #1 which has not been played all summer so that we have great grass for the event.

As far as Team Practices: The Edge is Field Paint Only

However if you have registered and paid your entry fees I will wave field fee and give Teams a discount on paint and air

Please pm me for discount information.

just posted in another thread....

Quote:
Hey everyoneÖ. I have given this some serious thought over the past several months and I have decided that this upcoming event #5 at the Edge will be my last MPS event. The reason for my decision is because I no longer have free time in the evenings and on the weekends to effectively promote this series and make it grow into what it could potentially be. Since I originated the MPS five years ago, Iíve became licensed in my profession and became a LEED AP so my personal goal within the next few years is to dedicate more time to work and eventually move up the ladder. In addition to work, my children are getting older and their sports are taking up a lot of my time in the evenings with practices (Iím coaching my sonís little league football team) and on the weekends (games every Saturday).

Please know that I do NOT want to see the MPS die! I want to see it continue on and to grow! I feel the time has come to pass the torch onto some other worthy and capable person that could take the MPS to the next levelÖ new blood if you will with new ideas. I am currently talking with a few individuals on if they are interested in taking over the series for the 2010 season and Iíll let you know what comes of our conversation. If these people decide not to take over, I may be asking some of you who are worthy to take over. I will still be around and you may even see me play a few MPS events in the future.

The reason I bring this up now instead of after event #5, I want to ask all the teams who are on the fence about playing this upcoming event to go ahead and play! Letís make my last MPS event a good turnout with a fun and friendly environment!

Thank you,

Dan

There are L1 teams out there. Most of them are not willing to drive 3-4 hours for 2 teams. Plus majority of L1 teams play national events and they forget about there grass roots. They think that they have hit it big time and do not need local events anymore. When it all said and done, they need the local events more than they think they do.

I have a ton of ideas for this. I but then again you might kill off the L2 bracket if you did that. Teams are scared when they see NAMES registered, It would be real hard to get the L3 teams to form a 5 man team and bump into hard bracket. There are pros and cons to everything. Lets dicuss over pm if you wish.

^^; correct about pros and cons to changing level requirements, no matter what is done, change or no change, someone will be displeased, finding the idea that makes the majority of everyone happy and stimulates growth of the series will hopefully be found.

I'm open to suggestions/changes
