Never heard of this before...

If you end up taking pliers to them, put some cloth or something between the ASA and pliers to prevent scratches.

You can try unscrewing the brass part in the back and unscrewing the macro fitting with an allen key (I want to say the macro fitting is a 1/8th in head but I could be wrong). The knob should pop off after you do that. Clean out the insides and make sure no dirt or anything is in the works. Someone else had this problem like last week, all he did was take it apart and clean it and it started working fine again.

NO you DONT need to take the back part appart!

take the macto fitting off using an allen key that fits into the macro fittin (dont remember the size) then the front will come off. then take a rag and put it over the small gear that is sticking out. take some pliers and turn that. this happens because you turn the front part all the way to one side to turn it off, you shouldnt do that. turn it until it vents, then stop

Since you fixed the problem I figured I might as well borrow the thread a little if that's okay.

Is the gear drive worth the $20 over the cam drive? Thanks!

Cam drive needs a rail, gear drive doesn't. Rails are like $20 so that should answer your question.

I've used cam drives that were stuck and wouldn't budge even with 230lbs of torque on a wrench and clamp. Then again maybe it was the same issue? Gear drive = win.
