Which for all the people that do not like the metric system is 0.0002". Plus/minus 5 microns is not going to effect the tolerances of a paintball gun, but with that, there is no way you are electroplating chrome or nickel first. Which is where the flaking/pealing/chipping normally comes from.

If you want to have the gun hang above your fireplace, this is the coating for you.
I must agree on this one after having owned the Aurora DM7 done by cutstep for Otis Driftwood Designs. Granted it had been through several hands prior to reaching mine, it had many signs of chipping and flaking as well as bubbling in the finish. However, who spends such an extravagant price on such a marker to use and abuse it?

True that, my SL74 is chipping like crazy mainly in the barrel area. Anyway to stop the chipping from spreading?

Not really. The bottom line is chrome doesn't stick to aluminum all that well. Its going to chip.

Ok I didn't read the whole thread. If you want to know what aurora is. It is either nickel or chrome plated gun triple hard chrome is the best. Then titanium vapor deposition or (tvd). I had some sample parts done a couple years ago. Thinking about doing a gun soon. There is a great company in calli that does it their factory is in Mexico. Yes it is very expensive. You have to hbe special tools made fr each piece. Unlike anno the prices have to me in a constant motion while in the vat. Then the liquid can not be saved for another batch it has to be discarded. I will try to look up some old info and see if I can make a few contacts to give out.
