Silhouette break up
X-Camo is the new camouflage pattern produced by Military Outdoor Clothing (M.O.C). It was created to compete with the Multi Cam pattern that is so hot right now. The colors are very much alike, but the X-Camo is in a digital layout like ACU as apposed to the more traditional layout of the Multi Cam. It can be compared to 5.11’s digital woodland with a little more olive Drab and a coyote brown & tan. It blends like the Multi Cam pattern but has that digital pattern that doesn’t break up your silhouette the same way the way Multi Cam does. {Side note: a lot of R & D was put into the development of the Multi Camouflage pattern, it blends you into a background buy working with the way the human eye evaluates and comprehends shapes and colors. IMO it is a superior pattern to the more readily available digital patterns}. I took this into the field and was impressed with it’s color matching. In dessert terrain the lighter colors are very prominent, allowing it to match sands, gravel, dried dirt and various foliage. Taken into the woods, I was equally impressed how the darker colors stood out more and the darker browns and greens were able for blend with underbrush and dried pine needles. Over all this is a solid pattern that I would choose over ACU if I was in the market for digital camouflage.
Price on X-Camo
So I just shelled out $60 for a set of X-Camo ACU’s. I was in the market for Multi Camo, but after seeing the price tag I had to change my mind. I live in Southern California and the vegetation and soil colors are a little different every were you go. I liked the Multi Cam pattern because of it ability to blend in with multiple environments, however, dew to the popularity of this pattern, the price on cloths and tactical gear in it are almost double what you pay for older camouflage patterns. In comes the X-Camo. I was able to get a set of X-Camo pants and Jacket in the ACU style for the same price as a Multi Cam pair of BDU style pants. So cost wise the X-Camo from M.O.C is a better value. If you are looking to get matching tactical gear for your vest however you are out of luck. X-Camo goes well with solid colors though. My Coyote tan MOLLE vest looked great with it.
Fit and Finish
The M.O.C clothing is made in a light weight 60/40 cotton/polyester rip-stop fabric. It’s a good weight material for warmer climates, but should be worn with under layering in colder temperatures. The jacket has the same form as the new Army Combat Uniforms with a mandarin collar, zipper closure, hook and loop (Velcro) on sleeves and pocket closures, elbow pad insert pockets, two bellowed chest pockets, sleeve pockets and pencil sheaths on sleeves. The pants have the same form and the A.C.U as well with drawstring waist and cuffs, 8 pocket construction, knee pad insert pockets, and button fly. The garments are double stitched and pretty durable. I would have liked to have seen double stitching for the Velcro fasteners

(especially around the collar which sees a lot of use), but that’s nothing a quick run under a sewing machine can’t fix. Overall a good construction for value priced camouflage uniform.
Final thoughts.
The X-Camo ACU Jacket and Pants by Military Outdoor Clothing is a good value for someone who is on a budget but wants the Multi Cam pattern. If you have the money to shell out on Multi Cam, then you should. But X-Camo is a good if not great alternative to that. An 8 out of 10.
