I don't think pbnation would of been as big with out the instant switch lots of us made from paintballcity(j. Murray) when they started charging people, and taking down the site fequently. Just thought should add. I didn't see it anywhere.

Yeah, I used both PbN and pbcity back in the day. I preferred different things about the two sites but Jim and James scared away everyone when they tried to charge. I think I was one of the few people who actually paid.

For what it's worth, I think you're right (and probably have data somewhere to back it up). I wonder how many people in the paintball world who are online go back that far to be able to reference it?

The wayback machine (archive.org) has some snapshots of the front page with the number of registered users. Appears to be around 30K, which was probably a lot for any forum at that time.. *shrug*

I remember the beginnings of paintballcity well. I loved how personable it was and still get excited when I recognize a user name from there. I remember the great division when pbnation was formed. 'City vs. 'Nation! People who used the 'City complained how it was started and run by a kid and thus maintained the forum maintained that same mentality. Its good to see it strive and succeed through all the nay say. Despite the flaws and downfall of paintballcity, Murray really set the bar for online paintball forums. I think I spent 50% of my day on there and warpig! Ahhh...the good 'ole days

Where was paintballdojo in that picture? I remember getting on there faintly, and think i remember it becoming another site, paintballcity maybe?

I remember Tony, Kyle, and Ed from the PbN NPPL Denver 04 booth. they even bought me an ice cream bar.

sad to see tony moved out of phoenix.
