New anti-phishing measures
Due to the amount of phishing that has been going on lately, we've implemented a new anti-phishing measure here on PbNation.
Any links sent via PM, posted in a thread, or linked in your signature that contain links to a site other than PbNation will require users to click through an interstitial warning page.
The idea behind this page is to warn users who might otherwise not realize they are leaving PbNation when clicking a link sent to them, or posted in a thread.
This may seem obvious to some users, but many users have lost control of their accounts when following misleading links sent to them by people with the intent on capturing PbNation or Myspace usernames and passwords for nefarious uses.
The warning page you land on when clicking a link provides you with information about phishing, and clearly shows you the link you clicked. We intentionally did not make this interstitial page automatically redirect you as our intent is to raise awareness of where you are going when you leave the site, in hopes that users will be more careful about entering their personal information.
This may seem like an inconvenience to some, but rest assured, we've implemented this to help protect you.
To those users who use tinyurl.com links in their signatures to "save space". We're in the process of figuring out better ways for you to do so without having to resort to third party websites like tinyurl. For the time being, I'd advise those of you who are using tinyurl links in their sigs to link to threads here on PbNation that you revert to the target of your tinyurl redirect to avoid the redirection warning page.

Check the TTMA forum every day, there's a lot of threads made, but they usually merge the threads together (threads relevant to the same user/phisher).
Anyways, bravo. The warning above the PM box was a step forward, but it is still possible to miss that, this however i think is a great idea.
Congrats to you guys for making this, and i do not think this should have the option to be disabled or not, yes it may be annoying, but the purpose is to always protect the users.

Thanks for the kudos. I personally believe this should cut down on a lot of the problems we have. People still need to be aware that the links they click on may resemble other sites (like MySpace), but this helps quite a bit.
As far as making it something optional, in delving more into how this works, I'm not certain we can make it optional due to some limitations in the way that vBulletin works. I'll look into it more, but honestly the people who are complaining about it now will come to realize that the 5s it takes for them to look at the link and click it is better spent doing that than trying to recover an account lost due to them not paying attention.

People who claim that they're "protected" because they run noscript don't truly understand how it works. Noscript by default just disables javascript on pages that they haven't explicitly trusted. There's nothing preventing me from creating a page that contains no javascript that captures login information. Noscript wouldn't protect you at all in that scenario.
A lot of the complaints I've seen so far are just reactionary. The time staff spends working with users reclaiming accounts, and the amount of grief users undergo when they do fall victim to phishing far outweigh the amount of time it takes to glance at a url and click it.

Meh, It takes ~1s to click the extra link. I don't mind it. For what it may prevent it is WELL worth the ~1s it takes to click.

Lies!
Every time I click a link that leads outside of the site I am presented with a pro prop 8 ad. I know what you're up to you crazy theocrats.
Then again, you are making money by introducing another level of advertising, sneaky

Because the people who think they have half a brain disable it and get phished, then the people who actually DO have half a brain have to fix it.

The funny part of this, at least to me is that if this message was in place when the site was created then all of a sudden it was removed without notice...people would still complain.

Mistakes still happen.
I got phished once, most likely because the link got opened and i later went to open another myspace link and i guess i entered my info in the wrong one or something. **** happens, if that thing came up for me it would have saved me the trouble with opening that fake myspace link.
