As far as JROTC goes, you only need 3 CREDITS. So basically, take the class 3 times for PFC.
An associates degree will get you Specialist on enlistment. If you have a Bachelor's degree, for one you should have gone officer, but that also will get you specialist.

This is wrong.. an associates degree would only get you E-3. A bachelors is the only way to gain an entry level promotion to E-4. I have been in Army recruiting I would appreciate if you guys just took my word for it on this stuff.

Actually, i'm in Guard recruiting RIGHT NOW, so i would know the current setup. As of Dec 06, associates degrees land you an E4.

The guard is NOT the active Army... so that is irrelevant. I doubt your information too. Can you link me to an ALARACT or the reg for this? You might want to check with your NCOs since I'm pretty sure you are wrong.

i believe you. but IMHO if your going to go to school why not pick one with ROTC and just become an officer. if money is tight find a nation guard unit near you and get them to pay for it. its that easy

Not everyone is planning on a military career when they start college... you could always just apply for OCS after you get a degree anyway. ROTC isn't that relevant unless you go on the scholarship.

Yep. I'm on an ROTC scholarship right now. Books, tuition, and fee's all paid for right off the bat. Contracted MS1's get $300 a month, MS2's get $350, MS3's get $400, and MS4's get $500. When you go to LDAC you get $500. At Missouri State you can apply for a ROTC room & board scholarship, and if you get that then it's like you're getting paid to go to school.

Alright so I think I decided what I'm going to do. I know there is no obligation until after your first year of ROTC. So, I went and talked to my Captain here, and asked him about the Guard. He told me that since I am a contracted cadet & on a 4-year scholarship, that I can't join it. So I was thinking about dropping of out ROTC and school, and enlisting for the Guard. Once I finish basic and AIT, come back to school, and get on with the ROTC program again. That way when I'm back in school, I'll be making more money than I am right now. Would I be able to do that?

be careful with that, depending on if you take an ROTC or Guard scholarship you may be forced to commission with the guard or not be allowed to go AD. Even if you dont take any money but the guard in your area needs LTs and you may be forced into guard.
dumb i know

If you do ROTC in college, while in the guard, you can select what component you want to commission into (active, reserve, guard). If you enlisted to pay for college, and are not doing rotc, you have to complete your first enlisted contract, or put in your request for a guard-to-active transfer (which can take from 2 weeks, to years, in select cases, mostly dependent on MOS. Combat MOS's are usually no problems at all).
