Need Epiph Advice..

Hey all,

I'm on the market for a new paintball gun and to me the Epiphany is very visualy appealing. That being said I looked into it and from what I can tell it's a pretty well rounded gun..
Anyways, I'm currently debating buying one for $140 shipped w/ freak kit. Thing is, there's a few problems with the gun that I'm wondering are something I should be conserned about or not. First of all the gun had been run on anti-syphon co2 which I don't know much about but from what I hear isn't great for guns.. so any info on that would be great
Also it has an on/off ASA that when turned on sometimes leaks, so you have to close in till the leaking stops. Does that effect how much air/pressure gets into the gun?

So like I said, I need some advice... Is this something I should look at getting or no?
Thanks in advance

well I suppose if there really is a better quality gun for the money.. It wouldn't hurt to look into it. Although keep in mind looks are very important to me haha..

pmr/slg would be good choices for that range imo

Well, if you can, the EOS is a little better, mostly because of the BOB feature. IMO it also feels a tad bit different. Might be the weight difference or something.

The slg isn't really that great. I'd definitely take an Epi of an SLG. As for the PMR, well, do as you will. I hear good and bad things about them. It's been my experience that most field/store owners hate them because they have a fair amount of problems. Mind you, those problems are usually solved once you replace the plastic parts, but the amount of money it takes to replace all those parts puts you well into the range of a PM7 or something like that.

An Epi with a full freak for $140 is a pretty great deal, but I just wonder what all is wrong with it. They usually sell for more, so unless it's your friend I wouldn't buy it. For $15-20 more you'd probably be able to find an Epi in a little better shape.

Yea it is little pricey. Try to find a local shop that will let you check out the epiphany and the pmr and then you'll be able to get a much better understanding on which you'd rather have. Both of those are what i'd recommend you'd check out

you really do need to check an epiphany out first. i bought mine after handling it at a bad boyz toyz store and i absolutely loved it. right now im looking for something a bit more unique (as a backup) like an Indian Creek Promaster. but i still love the epiphany.

im not a huge fan of the rail or slg. a buddy on my team has a PMR and the stock trigger is godawful. the epiphany comes with a kickass stock trigger, which can be adjusted to a rediculously small trigger pull (mine is at about a half mm).

i love the gun but have friends who arent huge fans of it.

i wouldnt really know about Co2. i shy away from it as much as possible. sorry but i cant really help you there.

I think epips are under rated and have a bad wrap because its made by sp. I love mine and with my virtue it absolutley rips. I own a SE PMR and when at the field I always reach for my epip first. I lil bit bulky but very smooth and great shooting gun. I don't think the co2 would have hurt it with the anti-syphon

if the gun is working fine, 140 for the epiphany and freak kit is a steal... plus the epiphany pwns babies when it comes to looks. Eos isn't much of a step up for the price, thought the BOB is nice. Taking the gun apart is fun anyways, will help you get used to cleaning the gun everytime instead of just lubing the bolt.

not a bad deal whatsoever.

only upgrade id recommend off the bat is a QEV ($20), and a clamping feedneck if you want.

As far as the GEV goes, do I just get one for the ION?

And what one would ya'll recommend? I don't quite understand how a QEV works (Yes I've read the stickies and other posts on it lol but I think it would help to see it in perosn..) so if I could just get pointed in the right direction is there are any brands that may not work as well. Unless a QEV is pretty standard across the board.. /shrug I duno haha

Thanks guys

yes, the ones for ions are the same as ones for the epiphany. you dont really need to know how they function just what they do, they help use air more efficiently to help the gun cycle and shoot faster and get more efficient. the best qev for you would be the smart parts 360 qev. its not as efficient as some others ( maybe 20 shot difference tops) its much easier maintanance wise and is much more user friendly

360 QEV. hands down. simply because of ease of use. it is basically a banjo with an exaust port in it, which "dumps" used air from the front banjo, instead of it having to be pushed back into the solenoid (which would require more air pressure delivered to the back of the bolt).

at least thats how i worked it out in my head.

anyways, itll be the best $20 you put in the gun.
