Secret Level Security Clearance

I got caught shoplifting today and its a misdemeanor on my record. They said it will be erased when i turn 18, except if i want to join the military or any government job they will be able to see it. My plan was joining the Rangers in the army after high school and im wondering if this will affect the whole security clearence thing.

You should still be able to pass your SSBI.

Don't be a retard, stop stealing. You should probably stay away from credit cards too... trying to get your hands on things you can't afford...

I remember when a new guy to my division went to the package store to get some new shower shoes before we went on deployment. He had forgot his cash, and walked out to the ATM machine... with the flip flops in his hand... Security picked him up with a quickness, lol. That was fun for quite a while.

I have seen from working with a clearence for years, that full honesty is the best policy. You will be very surprised what will not stop you from getting a clearence. I know guys with DUIs, Repos of homes and cars and still hold a clearence.

i actually talked to my sergeant about this the other day, seeng he was a green beret i asked him how hard it was to obtain a secret security clearance, and he told me that it wasent hard if you just told the truth about everything they asked you. apparently they ask for references and they interview your references.

Just don't get in huge financial debt and you should be fine. Debt is the leading cause of people not being able to get a clearance.

On the secret lvl...I don't remember them interviewing people, I had references but no one actually said if they were interviewed or not...but I was interviewed for my friends TS clearance....and your SGT is correct....as I have said before...honesty is the best policy.

I worked at student employment at my college and we had a few agents come thru wanting to check records and talk to my boss. Was for anything from people working on campus, the people who lived in houses across the street, to just knowing him. so they come and interview people and check records for whatever clearance it was. Didnt pay that much attention at the time.
