I am tooling up to do this as well...however, I want to do shortened inserts...probably in the 1.5" to 2" long range...I will supply all of the new inserts in an all-inclusive kit.
I am under the impression that you only need about 2" of bore-matching to take full benefit of this mod. There are many other inserts out there that have done this already...some as short as an inch or so.
I plan on keeping the color coding system that freak has in place and will engrave bore sizes on the outside of all inserts.
I will update the post after tooling comes in and I am comfortable with the results. I probably wont do s/s, since that mat'l is so hard on cutting tools...aluminum barrels only.
I will also be supplying barrels that are pre-bored as well and have already started sourcing components.
As an alternative, I am also pricing the option of having a 2" barrel extension that has a 1.5" long insert cavity available...that way, any AC threaded barrel can be converted to a "freak barrel" with minimal length added. Think of it as a super short freak front...
