Why go spool valve?

I had heard rumors of a PE spooler but I must say I'm actually a bit surprised to see one. A few years back spool valves really offered a big gain in terms of smooth operation but the latest generation of poppet markers are ridiculously smooth. Egos with zick kit and A1s with magno kit are just about as smooth as a trix with less maintenance, more efficiency and less temperature dependence.

I dont' mean to sound critical, but what does this marker bring to the table? I realize that the whole poppet vs spool thing is a matter of taste, but with poppets essentially matching spool valve smoothness I really don't see much reason in going spool valve anymore.

Having breifly read the specs, even I can see that it fixes many issues with spool valves traditionally.

Oh and it brings dual trigger setup and LCD displays as stock to the spool valve market. And other stuff.

Eclipse FTW.

and spoolies are much quieter compaired to a poppet. not that it matters much in speed ball , but in the scenario/woods ball world they just made a huge step in the right direction.

well they seem to have fixed quite a bit on this marker, the main thing I see is the 1500 shots per fill, so why not go spoolie?

You guys certainly raise the valid points of putting a display and nicer trigger on a spool valve marker.

Paintballingmigit, a quick look at my location will answer your question I've never had any problems running poppets in dusty or rainy conditions, but I shoot angels and they are sealed up a bitter better than most. A few teammates run egos and they don't seem to have any problem. The shocker folks on the other hand curse the sky on cold rainy days.

I might feel differently if I lived somewhere warmer, but some nights I end up with frost on my regs while laning!! Spoolers don't tend to like those conditions. I'm curious to see what the inard of this beast look like.

I think it will be very hard for any company to keep up with PE over the next year or so...........

They keep making huge strides in marker technology.

I'm biased too and I agree with his statement.

But seriously, they already dominate the poppet market. Next time you're at a field, look around and see how many of the poppets are Egos. Now, why not try to cut in to the spool market? They are going to take customers away from Dye, Macdev, and some other companies.
