I honestly want to know how you consider CAP part of the military. Not being a dick, I'm honestly curious.

If you are not sworn into a branch of the armed services you are not a member of the military. CAP members are civilians, and in all honesty are about as much in the military as boy scouts are.

I'd have to agree with berserker. It is the official "Civilian Axillary" of the Air Force, civilian being the key word. It's a volunteer organization, not a branch of the armed forces. I'm in the Air Force, and my base has civilian contractors that cook at the chow hall, but that does not make them part of the Air Force.

One could argue that if you work for the DoD, then you are a member of the military. I don't feel like arguing for that side, I'm just throwing it out there.

Sure, you could argue that. But you would be wrong. There is a distinct difference between a civilian and a sworn serviceman/woman.
