Dang, Super Squirrel beat me to it!
Second video is up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYqMrbCQ5rg
I was able to shoot this thing last week and it was freakin awesome. It gets 2 shots per 12 gram consistently. I believe we went through a box of 25 and it got 2 GOOD shots per 12gram. We also tested it lobbing grenades and it works great.

I keep two in my front vest pockets… I can change the 6-pack clips in the same amount of time it takes me to swap out a Tiberius clip…(about 3-5 seconds, about 10 if I put the used clip back into the pouch)
I usually have all of the clips pre-loaded with scatter shot, the bladder grenades can be loaded in the field on the fly…the scatter shot needs to be counted each time so that the same amount of ammo/wadding is used as was chrono’ed with, which takes up time…I’ve never re-loaded scatter shot during a game…
In terms of practical use…yes I need to rely on my team mates, this is more of a support role… 6 people in one shot is a stretch
The most I’ve hit to date is two in one shot (people need to be grouped together to hit them together…the wall of paint is only a few arm lengths wide)
Anyhow, back on topic…
If they made the Metadyne launcher into a pistol sized sidearm I probably could justify it more than how it exists now…
It also looks much too heavy to strap on as an under barrel launcher…
Remember the failures of the Scepter Launcher?
This thing will need to be priced less then $150, weigh less then 3 lbs, have an EASY to pull trigger, have a smooth hone inside the barrel, and include all mounting hardware...
...for it to be at all successful IMO
|
I am going to say it before someone else does. This thread is about the Metadyne launcher. NOT about comparing it to how cool you seem to "think" your Eclipse launcher is. For $1300, you can buy 4-5 of the Metadyne launchers and have them bolted together making a super launcher that is more efficient and probably weighs less than the Eclipse launcher. On top of that, the cartridge rounds that they are making along with the breach load system work better and are safer than your "wadding and paintballs". Plus there is no mess of wadding. The Metadyne launcher also has a built in regulator (not sure about the Eclipse) and runs just as well off of CO2 or air. It is more consistent than most paintball markers currently on the market. And one last thing, you mentioned this would be too heavy and bulky as an under barrel mount? Your Eclipse launcher weighs something like 13 lbs. This launcher weighs 2-3 depending on the accessories attached. With a loaded A5 you are looking at 7-8 pounds tops and you still get to carry a normal paintball marker and your entire setup costs less than $700. You paid $1300 for just the launcher and probably more for the extra clips. Hopefully the point is now made and you stop posting about how much greater your eclipse launcher is.
Also, keep in mind this is the prototype version of the Metadyne launcher. When the production model becomes available, you will be able to see the actual size and shape of it. All of the extras (breech load system, barrel extensions, mounts, grips, etc) will be adaptable to the original production model so you only need to buy 1 launcher. The accessories will work with the original unit that you purchase.

I hate companies that don't know what they are talking about. He says this completes beta testing, but as any 13 year old xbox player knows beta testing is outside of house and alpha testing is in house....

That why he was testing it himself, right. If you wanted to show beta testing why not show teams using it?

Noxx55,
If this was a marker specific forum, and you were asking about how to fix an A5, in the A5 forum, and all I was saying was throw the marker in the trash and buy an Ion (or equivalent fad marker) your argument would be valid…however this is the news forum, and people who would be interested in news, subcategorized launcher, would also be interested in other news worth launchers…
And the fact that I have absolutely no connection to this launcher other than the fact that I own one, and love it…makes my opinion that much less biased and hence more news worthy…
With that said, I hope the next video’s show chrono values along with distance…
Also, in terms of “mess” from the wadding, I wouldn’t trade that any day for the loss of accuracy that you guys showed by using the “cartridges” and the subsequent consistent ball breaks, confirmed in the film when he said “clean” but there was clearly pink paint all over the place
Lastly…This launcher shows a good amount of potential…I look forward to seeing the breach loaded version…(that version I would probably buy....would make a nice b-day present for my little bro so he can stop begging to borrow my EL)
a nice picture of the launcher, fully loaded, air tank attached, with the extended barrel being weighed on a scale would be a nice way to make your point as well...

actually it is not pink paint inside the barrel it is a reflection. we noticed it after we were putting the video together the barrel was clean. as far as final pics with is all together, on a scale ect. that will be in the final video when we have the production model done. as for a news thread I can't agree with you more this is a news thread for the "METADYNE" launcher not a comparison of theirs and yours feel free to start your own thread to extol the virtues of the eclipes launcher. I played with one of these at d-day and loved it I just think 1300.00 is impractical for the average player.

...point taken, and dropped
I might have missed this, but:
Can you tell us the max velocity/pressure it can handle?
Or more specifically, what pressure does it need to achieve 220fps for a nerf (typical field chrono limit)
What overall barrel lengths do you have in mind? (not overall marker length)
…more to follow
Edit:
how do you sign up for the pre-order?

I seriously don't understand why people keep making comments like this. Are you really that slow. Metadyne already has 20 slotted to go to there dealers in California. As well as people asking to be put on the mailing list.

you reminded me of a funny story its kinda off topic but i gotta tell ya
i play for the Team the Predators and we have a team launcher. well were playing up state N.Y. at west point
about a month ago. our team capt decides to bring the launcher out and hunt for some tanks. after awhile we take hold of this tree line now theres about 14 predators and about 8 other people and where all holding this line pretty damn good . so they send a tank in to clear us out .Joe (our team capt) gets set up perfectly to take this tank out. as soon as the tank gets in range Joe takes his shot and BAM! shoots some kid right in the *** the kid stepped right in front of him as he pulled the trigger it was such a dead on shot i was surprised i didn't see the tail of the Nerf rocket sticking out of his cheeks sadly Joe didn't get his tank kill that day but he did deflower some one with a Nerf rocket thats gotta count for some thing

These seem awesome, but I'm just concerned about fields allowing you to use the grape shot feature. Most insurance companies require their fields to have a one trigger pull one shot (one paintball) policy. They charge out the ear to insure fields that don't implement this policy (the insurance companies think it is safer), and thus most fields do.
You might get away with using it at some fields, and you can use it in outlaw ball, but a lot of field owners who know the conditions of their insurance probably won't let you use it.

You wouldnt be able to hit anything accurately over 20 feet away anyway.
