you would have to specify your budget. id advise finding a part time ob to finance it. Tanks are not cheap period. there is builing, towing and maintanence

I'm pretty sure I once saw a vid with a team who made a tank out of PVC and paintball netting.

just a box shape from pvc, netting sides/roof, wheels, and you push it from the inside.

Not sure how expensive the netting would be, but it sounds like it might be cheap.

Just an idea.

Well there are alot of different types of tanks. First of all you need to figure out what kind of vechicle its going to be mounted to. It could be a pug(foot powered), a tank with a bicycle gear system, ot a tank with a motor. How many people this tank is going to hold, and wether it going to be anti tank or an anti personel tank, or maybe both. What is your armor going to be; wood, metal, or netting.

in all honesty dude, if youre looking to build a tank for cheap you're either gonna come out with somthing thats more trouble than its worth, or its just gonna look so stupid compared to any other tank that you'll be the joke of the entire game.

best way to build a tank is to find someone who is about to junk a running car and ask him for it

a decent tank is gonna cost you 1000$ plus before running and maintenance costs.

if you just wanna ride in a tank on gameday, go to your local field and offer to split costs with whoever you can find that has a tank. thats the best way to get involved in a tank and learn exactly what it takes to put one together.

i spent 2000 and like 200 hours on my tank already and its not even finished yet

Gothic Vash, Technicly yes. But remember you need to check with the field your gonna take it too to see if you can use a tank there, and if it can be a road vehicle (truck), and if you will need to have insurance on it. Insurance is the big thing now with tanks.

Slow,.
You can do a walking tank fairly inexpensively. OCMI has one of the best walking tank I have ever seen. http://ocmipaintball.com/ might look through some of their pics to get some ideals. Just remember to think everything through before you build one. How are you gonna to get it to games? Is it gonna give you a heart attack to hump it around all day? Stuff like that...

golf cart- 3-400$

wood- 1-150$ possibly low 200's or PVC+netting probaly same price

turret (pvc)- 10-20$ (counting you already have a gun)

theres the basics so total of making a very basic tank is at lowest around 550$$$ plus maintnence/travel/etc is around the thousands

Nothing is cheap in paintball. Nothing, except the cheap shot to the nuts by your team mate.

Straight out of the General Scenario Rules of Play:

TANKS & VEHICLES:

PAVs, Tanks, APCs, scout cars, modified golf carts, et al. must be constructed from the chassis of an off-road vehicle only (example: No van, car or truck chassis unless the tank was built on one of these chassis prior to December 1998). Contact host field and event promoter on insurance regulations a minimum of three weeks prior to the event.

All vehicles must meet the following conditions:

Max Speed: Limited to 5 mph or a fast walking speed, whichever is slower. No exceptions.

Fully functional brakes. No exceptions.

Fully functional headlights: If used at night. No exceptions

ASTM approved paintball goggle system: Mandatory. Must be worn at all times by all players inside the vehicle. No exceptions.

Dead /Eliminated Indicator: Much like the old fiberglass antenna or fiberglass bicycle pole that can be flagged and positioned either up or down, alerting all players to the vehicle's status. Pole in up position indicates vehicle is eliminated; in down position indicates vehicle is in play.

Team Indicator: The vehicle must be readily identifiable as to which side or team it is on. Tape the two opposite corners of the tank with 24 inches of team arm band tape so that at least 12 inches of tape can be seen from all sides.

Rate of Fire: Limited to eleven (11) BPS. Semi-Auto ONLY. No exceptions.

Vehicle Contained – Static Mounted or Personal Paint Markers Chrono Speed: 260 day, 240 night. Chrono speeds are lowered slightly because these vehicles close distances quickly (it's hard for a person inside a vehicle to hear a person outside yelling "hit"). When hit / eliminated by a vehicle/tank, raise your MARKER or HAND above your head immediately!!!

Tank / Vehicle Main Gun: 230 FPS max velocity.

Viewable area of 360 degrees: Means the occupants must be able to see all around the vehicle with no blind spots.

Vehicles can also: Transport people and props, destroy structures and bunkers, or act as a stationary bunker.

Even if a vehicle / tank meets all of the above conditions, it may only be used with 3 weeks prior approval, as well as immediate pre-game approval of the scenario director. After approval, the vehicle may be required to be escorted by a full-time ref, judge, or a non-player tank support person. Additionally, you may be required to bring your own tank support person, depending on the number of motorized vehicles on the field and availability of extra staff.

Now we must also note that not all fields go by those rule sets. Many do allow road vehicles to but used as tanks.

i think that is how my local field does it, as long as the tank is safe for other players and the tank crew. besides, even by those rules, rally cars can count as an off road vehical.
