I might be going there in september to teach english, should I just dismantle everything and transport it? I have read about problems with taking markers into Japan, but I am unsure about South Korea... and how about HPA tanks? how should I transport them? sorry guys but I am new to this sport, and I would like to continue it while I am in South Korea. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

if you are going to ship (mail) a tank over here, make sure you take the reg off your tank. if you don't have a address to ship it to just take it on the plain. but don't forget to take the reg off! you should be fine getting here with it.

Off post there is a total of 2 fields and they are woodsball/sup air mixed however they require a group to go, and it is rental gear only.

The best fields to play at are:
Camp Casey's (about 1 hour away from seoul via subway)
or Osan (about 45minutes away from Seoul via subway, opposite direction from Camp Casey)
and Camp Humphreys (I'm not sure how far away from seoul but the city next to the camp is Pyongtek(sp?))

I put them in the order which I consider the best. Currently I play @ Camp casey as it is the closest to my base, and there are several skilled/dedicated ballers (around 15 or so) that come out every weekend.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me, I will be more than happy to answer any and all to the best of my ability.

Thanks,
-Tim

Is the rental gear only policy in effect because of restrictions against Koreans owning paintball markers?

A little more info...

Here's a little more insight for military members:

If you're going to bring your gear on the plane, make sure it is all disassembled and maybe even turn your regs/velocity down as low as possible so if you are questioned, you can show that it only fires around 50fps...or whatever you can get it down to.

If you put it in HHG or Unaccompanied Baggage, only claim it as "Sports Gear"...rather than Paintball Equipment. If you are questioned, don't fess up to having it. Although not illegal, some people are ignorant to the fact and WILL hassle you about it.

Smartest, safest way to get your gear here, box it up and have it mailed USPS. Priority takes 5-10 days, and on the customs form, only put "Sports Gear". NO PROBLEMO! (If you have a ton of gear, put it all in HHG or Unaccompanied Baggage EXCEPT the tanks/markers...mail those. This will save on shipping. A large Eclipse or Empire bag is around $100 depending on the weight. Filled with gear may be closer to $200.)

The MOST important thing is, if you have a marker in the barracks (which is definitely not smart) don't be a dumbarse about it. Don't show it off to your Battle Buddies, don't get drunk and try to shoot reballs at them. This would be the best way to get PB BANNED for US Military in Korea.

Finally, yes...Casey is the B-O-M-B for PB in Korea. Osan is second, but small. Both fields are great thanks to Sam...who is THE guy to know if you play paintball in Korea. As far as Humphreys: the field was shut down and opening again this month. I haven't seen it, but the management is in NO WAY interested in paintball players. They REFUSE to listen to reason and WILL IN NO WAY allow personal gear on the field. If they even know you have it, they are likely to report you and push for confiscation. That's just my opinion on the matter.

If you are NON-Military...the best thing to do is make a friend who is military, and have them sign you on post and help you ship your stuff through USPS. IF you get signed on post, please be cool. Don't do something stupid and get your Military friend in trouble...that would be bad for your friend and paintball.

Hope this helps. I'm leaving in June or I'd say, "See ya soon!"

Nick

Ok, so let me make sure this is right. I should ship my PB markers from the U.S. versus bringing it with me on the plane? I understand that I should dissassemble everything and take the regulators off the tank.
