Circuit City closing 155 stores nationwide

Officially at a meeting this morning, they announced the closing of 155 unperforming stores. This could be a very good thing seeing as the average CCity electric bill is 13-14000$/month. Those stores could have been costing ccity money to stay open. Either this is the beginning of the end or the start of a new beginning.

I feel like they can pull out of it.

Right now at this point, Circuit City is completely customer oriented. That is all they are pushing, they are not pushing the warranties as much anymore. Its the customer, so maybe right now they are a great investment.

CC isnt best buy. turn arounds are some of the hardest plays. The time frame for this investment is years. And it will take a lot more than closing some stores, and saving on the electricity bill to help CC. Its not the electricity bill that got them where they are

i am not saying the electric bill is the cause. im just adding that, is over $2 Million/month they are saving, not to mention the cost of employees and inventory.

If you read my last statement, that is what got them in this place. Poor customer service and bad management. They have a new CEO that is obviously doing some great things, and seems to be doing what schoonover should have done a year ago.

I thought you were in it for the turnaround? Turnarounds aren't a day by day thing. Lets see if CC goes bankrupt

Hopefully some of the ****ty stores will get shut down. I've been to some stores where the customer service was absolutely atrocious.

pretty much. I agree. They have turned around there thoughts but it may be too late. Right now its all about the customer.

And if anyone wanted to make some money but with a lot of trouble, buy a cd/dvd drive from circuit city, look on the back of the receipt for the return policy and then try and return it after 14 days.

False advertising

Calling a market bottom at Dow 11,360 might qualify.

If you listen to everything people say and do not do your own homework then you should not be in the trading game. He gives a lot of good advice and is not the reason for the market being the way it is.

Cramer is there to give us investment ideas,
he gives his opiinion. ofcourse hes not 100% right, who knows what is going to happen tomarrow,
he is a better investor than you and i, so before you back talk him remember that.
I dont recommend you blindly take his advice,
but he is right about 70% of the time.

Wrong.

Jim Cramer is right about 55% of the time (Source: http://www.cramerproject.com/stocks.php)

While I will give him props that this percentage is actually not bad and that he gives good advice to the beginners, he does deserve to be talked down.

I say this because he REFUSES to take blame when he makes very very bad judgement calls which has happened many times this year. A couple of days before bear sterns went down, he said it was safe. When they went down, he was attacked for his pick and he said, 'Oh, I meant the accounts at Bear Sterns. Those are FDIC insured'.

That's clearly bull****. If you look at his video when he makes the pick, he definitely wasn't saying the accounts at bear were fine, he was saying the company was fine. The fact that he doesn't come out and apologizes infuriates me. I know he can't be right 100% of the time, but he has to be able to say, "my bad" on picks that are just blow ups.
