PM8 reviews?

im looking at buying a PM8 used. i have never owned a PM before. with it being older how does it stack up to the rail or reflex series? pm8 is the last PM that have an LPR. not saying that. LPR are needed for high end guns. basicly is pm8 good say vs the rail or reflex? they do not have lpr and im worried about it.

never even shot one before. buti do own several dm3's and other DM including NT11 (does not have lpr) but just wondering pros and cons from u Proto matrix folks

The PM8 is superior to the rail or reflex in every way other than maybe cool anno designs. It will give you equal performance to the DM line for the most part. They`re also fairly cheap used. Probably in the $200-225 range if you look hard enough.

It's the best buy by far. You won't find its equal until you hit the DM14. It's an amazing marker. It blows the pants off of any marker with the word "rail" in it.

I would shoot a PM8 over a DM11, provided the PM8 had the new Ironmen trigger.

The PM8 has identical internals, and is lighter. The DM11 will also be taller due to its LPR placement, and the PM8 still has eye covers and delrin spring detents instead of rubber detents. The DM11 only beats out the PM8 on little things like the trigger, and that can be fixed on the PM8.

edit: keep in mind, this is for a stock PM8. If you ever see someone who has a PM8 with a TechT bolt, RUN! They're ****ty downgrades, and unless they have the stock bolt, they ruined that PM8 and turned it into a rail.

and operating pressure. but does roughly 40 psi make that huge of a difference? lol i run my nt11 at 95-100 psi and shoots 290fps +- of course

The slightly bit higher operating pressure isn't a problem. It's so small it doesn't really matter. Neither one is too hard on paint since both guns have an LPR to control bolt energy.

Most guns will use less pressure once they're broken in. Those pressures from the manuals are stock settings.

You will most likley break the ribbon eyes in the pm8.... I was being very careful but it happened anyway. however with a little patience you can put in some DM eyes without any modifications

EDIT also the stock board cannot do 12.5 bps... only whole number increments. but Tadao will flash the board for $30

PM8s and Ul'd PM7s are the best shooting guns for the $. The PM8 uses the DM9-11 bolt system as well as eye pipes. Nice ones will anywhere between $270 and $300, that means good condition, upped board and upped trigger ... nothing beats it, especially when they are properly tuned and broken in SO SMOOTH!!

Rails and reflex rails don't even come close, especially when you will pay more for a Reflex -_- they don't have LPRs so they will kick more.

I will be making a reg pressure tester soon so I can give you the psi from my PM7 at 295fps. Things to lookout for would juts be maintaining it correctly and keeping it lubed, but they are easier to work on than NTs so you will be just fine.

12.5 is gone anyway.

I've found the best way to take the eyes out without damage is to use an allen key and push them out from inside the breech. Don't try to pull them out. My ribbon eyes never died using this method. Of course I didn't have my PM8 all that long either so take it for what it's worth lol.

Set the gun up right and you'll rarely need to take the gun apart anyway.
