"My brother, sister, dad, ____ are serving"
I figured this wouldn't be a bad idea, but we'll see.
My brother is serving in the Army as a Grunt, and in the Spring he heads back to Baghdad for his second tour.
Talk away folks.

3rd ID was a little weird when I was attached. Had their own lingo and everything, lol.

I have two friends in the marines, grunts, on their way to Iraq.
An uncle who is an officer in the navy and a cousin that is a jet mechanic on an aircraft carrier.

My dad's in a logistics unit for the SEALs.
I dont know what my sister does in the Navy to be honest. All I know is her job required her to learn Chinese.

My Dad recently retired from the Marines at a Master Gunnery Sergent. My Uncle just back from his 3rd tour and only has 3 month's left with them. He's also a Master Gunnery Sergeant. It's about time he's done he said he fought in nam', the first gulf war, a few conflicts, and the current war. I'm enlisting next summer for either USCG or USMC. Gotta carry on the tradition.

Was your brother in Iraq in 2003? Just finished up HBO's Generation Kill (revolves around 1st Recon), pretty entertaining.

really? a kick in a good way? or a bad way?
I thought that show portrayed the marines as a bunch of cluster-****ed blood hounds.
I think it was an exaggerated stereo type.
To stay on topic,
My dad just retired after 30 years in the navy, would have stayed longer but couldn't make commander in time. As a son of a sailor, I plan to join the navy and hopefully become carrier navy.

Sadly thats pretty close to how the 1st Recon is....
My brother goes outside the wire of his FOB not wearing interceptor at all... just a brown T and web gear.... I've even seen pictures of him outside the wire wearing a freaking baseball cap shades and web gear.. I thought getting hit in '03 would of taught him something.

My best friend (and former PBN member, Easterbunny if anyone is old old old school) is an E-5 Ranger in the 82nd Airborne. He's completed two tours in Gayraq and is currently in Vicenza, Italy training with the 173rd Airborne Brigade (I think...).

My Dad is a CWO4 in the Coast Guard, he's stationed in Baltimore at the yard.
He's spent about half his time (24 years) on ships of varying sizes. Right now he manages renovations on 318s, and newer projects. He's told me (and I take it with a grain of salt, haha) that he used to be one of the more knowledgeable turbine/diesel guys in the Coast Guard, and is one of the two HVAC "experts".
