ok lets stay on topic! turf would be nice but not neccsary...linoliam(sp)(for reball...) works great and is fairly cheap(comparied to $1 square foot for turf(reg. xball is over 16000 square feet!)). or if you do paint...idk how the astroturf they sell at menards would hold up but that is an option. or you could always plant real shade loving grass! fill dirt is "dirt" cheap, enough to cover 16000 sq ft at 2-3 inches deep would be under a grand. and you can pick up 2 50lb bags of shade loving grass seed and fertalizer for under $200(i work at an ace hardware so these prices are pretty close). so your lookin at 1500 tops for very nice grass...(just an idea!). charge a decent field fee of like 35-40 for 3-4 hour sessions for team practices at byop. charge 6 more for all day air.then on non practice days it could be like 15 field fee fpo for like 45 and 5 all day air...fields are always selling used fields in the field owners forum...we DO NOT NEED the most current xball/nppl field...i think having a close to regulation size would be good enough. the 06/07 xball fields are legit enough. and dennis is right. store is not needed..."tournement" players hardly EVER pay retail! just a suggestion

Warehouses are expensive to heat, cool, and maintain.

Not to mention, they all want a minimum of $1,000,000 to purchase.

who said it had to be a warehouse? crogarts reball was in an old grocery store!!!! maybe look in old flooded retail buildings. like i said before we dont really need regulation size for winter/rainy days of practice. and you dont have to buy you could look in to leasing. just explore all your options! and everyone remember(no one in particluar) that there is alot more to opening a field...you have to buy
1.NETS
2.FIELD(BUNKERS)
3.COMPRESSER
4.RENTAL GEAR
5.GETTING HOOKED UP W/ COMPANIES(some larger companies ie. Dye require a $5000 or so minimum just to sell there products!)
6.FIELD/BUILDING SPACE
7.FIELD MANT.
8.HIRE A CREW
THE LIST GOES ON AND ON

Buying is the easy part. Setting up the net is work, same with the bunkers, compressor, and everything else on the list.

Some find the hardest part getting proper zoning and permits to have paintball; especially in city limits.

zoning and running it by the city is the hard part. The actual business is the easier part

Coming from grundy center - cedar rapids and desmoines are the same distance for me. I, along with my friends, would most definately welcome an indoor field. For many of us...things slow down in the fall/winter....which for me...is the most fun time to play. Count us in as supporters for this endevor.

sport zone was legit but the turf was way slippary, you go to slide and end up 10 feet past your bunker.
