Sometimes it's better to just leave classic movies, well classic, and not try and make it "The Best Remake Ever".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/

But it looks like its true.

hopefully they dont fail at a remake of an EPIC movie... doubt they'll use the Soviets as the invaders, which means it already sucks

See, that's what I mean. If that was in a regular war movie, it'd be "oh, that can't happen in real life." But it did happen in real life, and you know it, so you appreciate how courageous and extraordinary that was. Just makes it that much more incredible to me.

Also, another EPIC scene in band of brothers, when theyre fighting at the crossroads in holland, and winters tells the line to follow him when they see the red smoke. He chucks the smoke grenade, but it misfires and doesn't send out smoke for about 10 seconds, and the rest of the line waits.

So Winters makes a charge at 2 companies of SS by himself, and surprises them and makes them retreat. Come on, if that's not bad ***, I don't know what is.

(by the way, its explained much better in the book, I'm a horrible storyteller)

I can't wait for the new BoB'esque series. Spielberg and Hanks are doing it again, but this time in the Pacific Theater, and it's fictional. Bummer it doesn't follow the true story kinda feel, but if they do it right it will hit JUST as close to home.

I'm suprised noone has listen Tour of Duty as a show.

and the best Navy-related film ever made has to be Das Boot. For a movie made in '82 it is ridiculously well-done, and i start to feel claustrophobic just watching it.

My personal favorites are Red Dawn and The Longest Day...

My favorite military/war related shows are: Generation Kill, Over there, and of course Band Of Brothers
Platoon certainly at the top of my list, and from all accounts, one of the if not the most accurate portrayals of Vietnam.

Green Beanies...errr, I mean Berets (with the great one, John Wayne) excellent flick, worth the watch, the movie that was the motivation of my first Saigon Swing! lol

Entertaining but not really accurate, and I've always been an accuracy type of person: Red Dawn....."Wolverines!!!!!" excellent movie, VERY entertaining.

WW2 type flicks of note:
* Saving Private Ryan...some excellent scenes.
* Midway
* The Longest Day
* Bridge over the River Kwai

soo many more, but those are pretty much the tops on my list.

Edit:
Forgot one of my tops and seeing it mentioned, it needs mentioning again.
* Band of Brothers...the only movie I can watch several times and still not be bored with it.

Technically, according to the realistic storyline, he was a Force Recon Sniper. Hense being used by the CIA in a place America shouldnt be in the story as well.

Well he would have gone through the training. But he would have been a Force Recon marine who had gone through scout sniper training. Basically, Scout Snipers /= Force Recon.
