Why do you guys just have 900GB?
You should get 2TB, bump the rmp down to 10,000 and increase everybody's avy limit.
This is a *database* server, not an image server. We don't need a lot of storage on it. Avatar size has nothing to do with the amount of space it takes up on the server.
For example, if people default to 45 posts per thread, and each person's avatar is say, 20kilobytes, that's 900kilobytes (nearly a megabyte) of avatars per page load. That's a ton of data to push to people on slower connections, or people who might be browsing on mobile devices.
Not to mention the fact, we're talking about SCSI harddrives here people. Not Serial ATA. SCSI hard drives aren't even available larger than 300gb.
Also, we're running RAID 5, that means with 3 300gb hard drives we have 600gb usable, not 900gb. One drive is lost to parity.
