"The EPIC marker is both reliable and durable due to its unique design. It is extremely small, light weight, and has very little reciprocating mass (moving parts) which allows the EPIC to be both smooth and agile while increasing its durability.
The EPIC utilizes a thin (.03 inch ) dividing plate, TRAP DOOR™, to separate the paintballs as they load into the breach. This extremely light part opens to allow the ball to enter the chamber, and then closes to seal the chamber when the ball is ready to be fired. The TRAP DOOR™ closes with less than three pounds of force unlike a standard large-mass bolt, which mechanically push the ball forward closing with enough force to cut off a fingertip or completely obliterate a paintball. In the EPIC, only air acts on the ball to propel it down the barrel; therefore, ball breakage in the marker itself is virtually eliminated.
The EPIC™ marker incorporates a "VENTING PRESSURE REGULATOR™" for optimum performance in precise velocity adjustment/maintenance. This feature vents any increase in pressure internally in the marker externally in a safe manner, thus greatly reducing the possibility of "hot shots." This allows the marker velocity to be maintained near the set limit without velocity spikes over the limit. This feature also provides for exceptional performance in cold weather, allows the use of CO2 in cold and/or harsh environments, and is compatible with all power sources: compressed air, nitrogen, and CO2 without any modifications or problems.
The EPIC™ is self contained and sealed from outside contamination. There are no external moving parts to jam or catch on obstacles on the field. The only opening for contamination to enter the internal working of the marker is through the bottom line power source adapter; however, a replaceable filter blocks damaging contamination from entering the marker through this passage.
The EPIC™ uses standard AUTOCOCKER® thread barrels allowing players to use equipment they are familiar with or already own and swear by. Small or large bore barrels can be used without concern about paint rolling down or out of the barrel before the ball is fired because an integral ball stop retains the ball in the breach. Therefore, this is the only paintball marker capable of effective operation without a barrel attached."

That just about explains it all
