Whats most difficult to become in the Navy
Which is most difficult to become NFO (naval flight officer) or pilot? I just joined the Navy doing AV but I really want to get my degree and become a NFO, how tough is that to do?

NFO's are already pilots so I'd say NFO...

Not true.
NFO's are not pilots. They are Co-pilots.
They are pretty much equal in difficulty.

pilots have more pilot flight training and nfos have more training in things like weapons, ASW, etc.

I would think being seal is pretty damn difficult. You only get one shot at it, and it's tough as hell.

only if you have a medical referral right? It was my understanding that you had one shot, if you washed out you ended up driving boats.

Officers only have one shot. Not sure how many chances enlisted members have but you have until you are 27 then you have to get a waiver from your parent command.

You can go back, but you have to wait at least a year.. And thats only if your CO lets you.
And its not so bad, when you wash out you pick a new rate anyway, Hopefully for you a good ones open.

An Admiral.
I think they're both probably equal in difficulty.

It is harder to be a pilot. You have to be smarter all around, and you need to be almost perfect physically.

I thought that, But the job i'm goin in for is really just as hard if not harder(EOD). You have to train to most everything a seal can do(commonly put in with seal teams), plus 51 weeks of hardcore training plus the weeks for jump/dive school etc..
So yes seals may be biggger hardasses, but if your talking mental combined with physical skills etc... Id say EOD.

We dont have 2nd LT's in the Navy. As far as I know you have to be in the Navy to go to BUDS, but they did just pass something where 3 coasties a year can go to BUDS now but they also dont have 2nd LT's.
