I just got a Nikon D40

but the zoom is not the best i think or is it my settings?
heres the problem just look at the pictures and it will explain itself

But dont they look kinda small? the people in them that is. I think it's either the zoom on the stock lens(which i heard aren't the best) or i just need to get closer.

Yeah, the stock lens makes tiny pictures. Something like the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 should give you good size pictures.

Oh yeah, that is weird, i didnt really think about it at first

You probably just need to like look in the settings for the telephoto zoom setting or something.

Okay thanks, is there a forum or something where i can buy them used or is new a lot better?

Any lens with a focal length that goes beyond ~100mm ought to do you fine. I'm sure there's a "kit lens" that's something like 75-300 or so.
