I haven't read the book so I'm just going off of what I've gleamed from watching HBOs version:

Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
but the recurrent theme throughout is how incompetent the officers are. In fact at the end of the second episode Iceman says "These officers are going to be the death of us" so I wouldn't be surprised to see some of those marines die in the next few episodes. And from that you can probably expect some bad intel from the translator, who seems to be way to relaxed for the situation he's in.

*edit* put it in spoiler tags just in case.

Yeah, if you listen in the first episode where they're all waiting for him, he comes out of his tent and said "I gotta leave my weed behind, that was some good chronic"
Pretty much summed it up for him

My favorite characters are the guy who wears >9000 pounds of gear, dunno his name but he's got tactical **** everywhere
The Lieutenant who actually knows what the **** is going on
and Person

We've got the DVR set to record every episode, but so far I have only watched the first. I have not read the book Generation Kill, but I have read Nathaniel Fick's book, One Bullet Away.

It's a pretty good show. I can't stand the language, but I don't think it should be any other way. Fick's book was a little more of his personal history, point of view, etc., and a little less of the big picture, but the show was pretty good.

My favorite is the guy who drives the Humvee that that writer from Rolling stone is in.

I noticed that The Godfather (The actor who plays him) was in the very first episode of Burn Notice last year.
