Email Notification and the Quick Reply Box

Ive noticed that if you use the quick reply box (located at he bottom of every page of every post) to respond to a thread, that thread doesnt show up in your subscriptions.

This had me stumped for hours before I finally realized that it was because replys posted using the Q.R. box had email notification set to 'off' - you dont get email notification of replies to these threads, nor do the threads show up in your subscriptions.

Is this something that was done on purpose for ease of use, or is it a bug? Its easy enough to use the standard 'reply' button but the quick reply box IS convenient. Just wondering.
