Need clarification on my ban

Hello. My original username is Speed_Scooter. Apparently I was perm banned for phishing and sending out messages?!? I did NOT send the PM or message as shown in another thread in here. I received a very similar message from someone else (If my old PM box can be looked at, you will see the message in there) and seeing as how i have jersies for sale, I clicked on it to see what they were offering. the link did nothing so went about my business. I have not been able to log on recently. It would appear MY account was phished and then sent out the other message. What can be done about this? I was an ASM and had not used my unban. Can i use this to reactivate my old account? If someone could please help me figure out what has happened to my account, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you

Corey

You were banned because you lost control of your account. Most likely your passwords for Myspace and your email were the same. When you gave away your password for Myspace, you also gave away access to your email and therefor your PbN account. Always check the url before ever entering your password. Every time.

What you need to do right now is change all accounts (email, myspace, bank, paypal, PbNation, etc) that use that password to a new and completely different password.

Nothing was hacked. You were just tricked into giving away your password and your passwords were the same for everything. Our standard practice is to ban an account when a user has lost control of it. That prevents the user from getting in even more trouble on our site.

If this is your first banned account, you are more than welcome to make a new PbNation account, but you need to be more careful when entering your password. Always check the url and make sure it is not a phishing site.

If you were ASM, go to the contact us page if you want to apply for an unban.

Read more about phishing here.

Thank you for clearing it up for me. I have applied for my ASM unban for my original account. Apparently i need to be more careful, which i guarantee i will be after all the trouble this incident has caused me.

My deepest apologies for anyone that my account PM'd. I hope no one else fell for what I did.
