Brittle Paint

I'm looking at trading for a Legend and was wondering how it was on brittle paint? I live in New England and need something I can shoot in the winter/cold. I've read the vs. thread and it seems kinda biased in favor of Legends (esp. since this is the Infinity section).

Can anyone help?

just like any other gun, if the paint / bore match is correct and settings are right. it should perform great. you also have to take into concideration, that if the paint is too brittle, then it will bust all day long. paint maitenance is also key.

I'd probably be using a barrel kit.

What I mean is I hear all this fuss over the Cure bolt (egos) and kiss technology (Angels) that are supposedly easier on paint. Is there anything on a Legend that could help with brittle paint?

If you look at a KISS bolt they share the same piece that the soft tip bolt has. I remember asking Infinity (Glenn) about it and they got permission to use that design from WDP. Shooting more brittle paint should be no more than adjusting/increasing dwell so you can lower the reg's pressure putting less force on the paint. The bolt better aligns the stack in the feedneck to reduce impact on paint. Legend = brittle paint (when set up right).

your right pigg ... infinity did work in conjunction with WDP for the soft face bolt

its a great product ... finally got my hands on one and i have to say im impressed with the craftsmanship

unfortunately we occasionally get the renegade poster who starts slandering the legend saying that it is "harder on paint" than most .... which is certainly not true ... its just as easy on paint as timmies, egos, angels etc etc (all the popits) ... basically just remember to tune your settings a little ... for brittle paint go with your dwell at 12 (+/- 1 or so ... each marker is different) then readjust your velocity

the converse is to down your dwell and up your pressure to get better efficiency for say field grade paint

if you drop the pressure (adjust dwell to compensate) you will be fine, and with the soft face bolt to halp align the balls, you shouldnt have too much trouble. id say go for the legend...not because its better on paint, but because the temperature doesnt effect it as much as say a shocker or matrix. when matrix's are used in freezing weather, they have known to take a ****. stacked tube popits are usually a little better at dealing with the cold

If you're talking about Zap Stinger it's not brittle.

Any suggested settings (exact numbers) for what to set the dwell at in the cold?

I know, but when I start playing tournaments I'm gonna need to know what to set my dwell at.

12 is a good general number ... but every marker is different so try 11-13 or so

Another thing that you might consider is increasing your BIP delay, if you have the stock WAS board. Also, get the reflash or buy a TADAO board. It's a huge upgrade.

The Angels can shoot brittle paint, but not only because they have the "Kiss bolt." Their boards are set up to shoot brittle paint, depending on which paint you select. The affect that the setting has on the marker is the delay when the ball gets into position.

Increasing the dwell is the first thing I'd do.

Good Luck
