how do you guys separate your cp regs without strap wrenches- i tried locking visegrips over a towel but it still gouged it slightly.. are strap wrenches really the only way to go?

yeah thats the safest and most effective way

if you use a thick enough towel the vice grips should work fine too

if you have a old peice of leather strap (belt or anything similar), that works for me, with the vice grips of course. it's good because it's thick and will not slip off if tight enough. try it out.
