Danger of anodizing?

So, I'm completely new to this sort of this, and just received a midnight Geo 3.1 in this year's package. This gun DESPERATELY needs some color to it, and I've heard from a few people that anodizing can potentially ruin the body of the gun. Is this true in any way?

Anodizing won't ruin the gun. The gun comes from factory anodized. When you have it redone all the anodizer does is strip off the existing anno layer and apply a new one and dye it different colors/patterns. The only risk is if the anodizer strips too long. The stripper dissolves the previous layer but if done wrong, will continue to dissolve the aluminum underneath. This will affect tolerances that will usually not be able to be restored by applying a thicker layer when anno'd.

Long story short. Re-anodizing won't hurt anything, unless it's done wrong. Go with a reputable company and you'll be fine.

There is always risk to re-anodizing when dimensions need to stay exactly as they are...there is just no denying it.

Stripper removes both the factory finish and some of the substrate...there is no denying that either.

That being said problems after re-anodizing are far and few between.

Of coarse there are ways to greatly increase the risk, but that is really limited to leaving the part in stripper for hours at a time or re-anodizing over and over.

Caustic Customs for sure. Steve did my dm6 (tri fade acidwash) and I couldn't be happier with his work. Top shelf work from a top shelf guy.

Just got my axe back from "laser my gun" 2 weeks ago and they did an excellent job. Everything fit fine and it was only $90 for 8 pieces.

I got my alias done by them and it came out HORRIBLE not only that but it took about 5-6 months for them to get it out to me, they had horrible communication with me, and honestly i regret it so much.
