mabye we'll get an official statemnet from DP? THIS IS GETTING SERIOUS.
I asked about the regs and this is what I got:

Hi Peter,

Regulator issues happen with any marker and any type of regulators. If you maintain your regulator regularly and do not over pressurize the marker then you should have no issues.

Thank you.

I don't think it's serious at all.
I haven't had any problems and neither has my team mate with any DP markers regs. All together totaling about 9 or 10 markers.

Most of the regulator problems are user error. Although I do think DP should make a statement for the correction to the G3 manual so that we can sticky it.

I have not had any problems with mine either. I love DP's regs. They are simple to clean and have been very consistent for me.

Maybe if you could cut it perfectly straight but it would be bery tough. IDK if its the same size either but i dont know.

I have personally had this problem happen to me. I dont believe that i bottomed out the reg with excessive force. DP has great CS though and they sent me 2 pistons for free

I heard of someone doing that macro line trick one time in an old thread. They said it worked but I have never seen any actually do it.

Bottoming out = Shutting off air to the HPR = screwing the HPR adjusting screw clockwise until it stops.

It is perfectly fine to "bottom out" a DP reg. I do it all the time. Just don't
OVERTIGHTEN it. As I've said before, I've had 6 DP guns and used the stock reg
the entire time. I bottomed out the regs all the time and had no issues.

Exactly the type of thing to look for when you are having issues!

Do you suspect this was user error, or a defective part?

Those look the same as the dye reg seats. If you know anyone with a new Dye gun, they'll probably have one you can use. Reg seats are cranked out in factoies by the thousands......it's not unusual to have defective ones. This is why I always suggest everyone take their gun apart when they get it. Just to look things over.

That shim stack issue is also a problem. You need shim that sits flat on each end of the stack.

Out of my own stupidity tonite, I attempted to take the top of the reg off, the silver part with my hands. Well i grabbed onto the threads, and without realizing it cut my pointer finger on one hand and my middle finger on the other. The threads on the reg are really sharp, just as a heads up.My teamate also cut his hand this way.

Use the allen wrench to take it off then, or hit the edges with a screw driver to nock off the burrs. Sand paper would work also.

Its not always user error, any gun will have its problems. But I am willing to bet a good portion of the time it is.
