JT Spectra problem

Well i love my Spectras, but i may buy the rest of the invision set soon if i find that this is just a flaw with spectras (i bought the goggles before i started because my friend's dad said we could make our own mask, but rules also changed since the last time he played, so i've had a new set of invision goggles sitting around for about 5 years).

Ok, my first lens in my spectras got a small crack on the inside lens at the bridge of the nose, and it was only about 1/4 of an inch to 1/2 of an inch up the lens. I figured it wasn't a big deal, it still kept them from fogging. Then i pulled out my goggles and found i hadn't cleaned them in a month so i hurriedly washed them so i could go play, and they started fogging up like nothing else. Well after that little fiasco i decided to get a new lens. Well somewhere down the line that crack appeared in the same freaking spot, and during the big game a few weeks ago when i was carrying my mask some rain got in and in the later games the insides of the two lenses started to fog up. I'm just wondering if this crack is normal with people that have this mask, or if i've been doing something wrong, or what, because i remember seeing a guy who had a crack up the entire inside lens, and i at first thought his main lens was cracked down the middle, so i just don't know if this is a normal occurrence. If it is i suppose that i'll have to get the rest of the Dye mask, even though it's expensive and it doesn't have as wide of a field of view...

I, in all honesty and truth, have never had any Spectra lens crack, including a set from around 97 or 98. I do have a set of Elites with a slightly cracked lens, but I did a punishment test on it.

I know it's a pain to get the nosepeice of the frames on the lenses. Think you could be cracking them inadvertantly when you put the frames on?

Actually now that i think about it i think that might be the problem, because i did take out my first set when i washed them a while back, so that must be the issue then and i must not have noticed when i put the new lens in. Is there any way to avoid this, because i thought i was putting it in pretty gently, maybe if i put some electrical tape on it...

Oh well, i guess these will have to suffice till i scrape up enough extra to buy a replacement, or until they start fogging enough to bug me.

anytime ANY lens shows signs of a crack, it should be immediately replaced. That's your vision you are talking about.

Here's a how-to video, and he sounds like a douche, but he demonstrated proper form in removing and installing the lense.

It's not the outside lens that is cracked, it's the inner thermal lens. Trust me, if the outside one got cracked i would replace it immediately, but the inner one does nothing to protect your eyes.

Well, I have no remedy for the inner thermal pane, but the install tips should help you out.

Yeah, i've been able to figure out that i was putting them in wrong, and even though i though that i wasn't using a lot of force it was still enough to damage the inner pane. Thanks for the video, should help me out, even though it looks like i was doing everything the right way, maybe my goggle frame is just too stiff. Ah well, i guess i'll figure it out next time i replace the lens.
