Referee Equipment.......
Ok fellas heres another good discuss . What equipment do you recomend for the job at hand . This is tournement refferee stuff for field and scenario refferee stuff is slightly differant.
#1 Goggels IMHO the V-Force shield model is the Bomb easy to change lenses and fits glasses very well. Also it has a coolie little flip down throat gaurd that I swear i been hit in it at least 100 times in 5 solid years of reffing ( I retired almost 2 years ago ).
#2 get at Hundreth or Bunker MOnkey polo hat have white if possiable. These things are the best and most proffesional lookin things there are.
#3 Good set of elbow forearm gaurds . The Dye one i use the forearm part make a nice tiny shild for when ya charge in there.
#4 Wear your pack !! Its great for holding watter bottles but most importantly PROTECT THE FAT ROLL!!!! and your kidneys. Try it youll be suprise the pain it will save you.
#5 Almost forgot wear a bandanna around your neck. For when it gets hot and if you have access to ice you roll the ice up in the bandanna and wear it around you kneck is like a ac unit.
#6 A good set of pants Dye C- series pants are the shiznit. Now I am about comfort and a pair of Dye shorts and the Smart Parts shin and knee gaurds with a pair of white soccer socks the ones that go over your knee work great.
#7 A pair of comfortable shoes or even boots what ever you prefer that will give you enough traction to work.I used walmart tennis shoes there a bit slippery but when your on your feet all day it makes all the differance in the world.
#8 A good pair of gloves finger shots suck.
#9 ( optional) A working multi channal radio hand held or clip on with a throat mic.If enough of you show up at a tourny with your own radio it will make your job alot easier. If im not mistaken the NXL is the only crew with radios available to them. The rest of us will have to go it on our own to get radio communications.

A towel is nice as a shield for both holding and, for some people, your private area. Much better because you can protect yourself without extending the bunker, like what a shield does.

I actually like to wear my flurry vest when I ref. It's nice and light and covers your sides too, plus it has built in camel back. The pockets come in handy for if I have to carry any extra armbands or what not, and I put a name plate on the back that says referee.

A whole lot of BABY POWDER!
....or diper rash cream, aloe vera, gold bond whatever you prefer
Boxer briefs work really well to prevent that nasty feeling.
Glasses cleaner. This is the best anti-fog solution known to man. The trick is to not wipe it and let it air dry before you use it.

Bounce cap and empire bounce shirt FTW. Along with your regular forearm/elbow pads, knee pads and slide shorts, you cant go wrong. Theres no more need for a shield or anything like that, it's going to be very very hard to take a hit in a soft spot with all the padding on. That translates into you being able to go places on the field and take your time checking players, where as before you'd be worried about taking 20 balls in, 20 while youre checking, and 20 on the way out.

Our coach reffed the series we played at. Last event we had a terrible storm and it dropped down to 2*C with some intense rain, he put on his yellow rain jacket with the matching hat and boots, you could see him running anywhere.
