So there’s lots of you kids out there wondering just what the hell this HKarmy **** is all about. Unfortunately you guys are all lazy ****s and never do your research, so you roll up in PBTalk and post a thread, in which you get a bunch of responses along the lines of “HK sucks and only cares about how they look.” This is wrong. The kids who tell you this have no idea what they are talking about.
So since you kids are too lazy to do the research yourself, lemme give you a real quick general rundown, cause I bored like a mother****er.
ids) originated out of southern California before any of you even knew what paintball was. It was basically just a bunch of friends who loved the game. They banded together and formed this “army” because they were all friends who loved the game, and played just for the pure joy of playing. Winning, losing, whatever—ball. That’s what it was all about. And then it just so happened that they were all rather stylish and such. Also, some of the army's core members formed a team that currently plays the NPPL circuit under the name Hollywood HK.
They played good ball. They look good while doing it. They were cool kids. This is how they began their rise to fame. Major members of the army consist of those you wouldn't typically think of: PbN mods Lil Ian, ffry, timebomb (and I believe Tony too), and world class pro players like Ollie Lang and Scott Kemp of current world champions, the Ironmen.
They did not coin the term “agg.” They borrowed the term from surfer/skater slang, from the term “aggro” meaning aggressive. But they were responsible for its popularization, and this is how the term has come to be associated with the army.
Basically, they have the following they do today because of 4 things: they play good ball; they are good sportsmen while they are at it (the actual army members, not the kids that run around with stickers on their hoppers and whatnot); they look good, and basically pioneered looking good while playing paintball; they, somehow, have massive appeal to young paintball players, whether it be because of how they are associated with the term “agg” or for more sensible reasons, I don’t know. Yes, they sell merchandise and capitalize on the infamy of their name. But why you hatin? ***** gotta eat yo.
There are two kinds of HK supporters:
Type A: These kids are the ones who have no idea what the **** they’re doing. They typically enjoy spending mommy and daddy’s money, and they generally suck at paintball, yet love to talk **** while they’re at it. They seem to enjoy cheating and general asshattery which results in massive amounts of dislike for them. They wear the headbands, tag the stickers, and buy the longsleeves because these things are considered “agg” in their minds. Not because they actually know what HK is all about, but because they just wanna be cool. These kids are wannabes, they are the ones giving HK the bad name that’s now so easily associated with it. They do not represent what HK is all about.
And then we got the non-moron, semi-knowledgeable, normal HK supporter. This dude is all about what HK is all about. Having fun, and admittedly, looking cool, but not as much as having fun. He probably won’t wipe it when you gog him running to the snake, but if he gets shot in the barrel he probably won’t be so quick to walk out (like you would? Don’t lie to me). He has a brain. No, he will not stop breathing if HK said it wasn't agg [so no, your ****ing sig isn't clever nor cool (take no offense if you don't know what I'm talking about)], because he supports only because his ideals correspond with HK's. He has personal reasons why he supports, whether it be because he was at first a Type A supporter who saw the light, or because of something deeper. I personally began supporting when I witnessed the 2004 World Cup match of HK vs. Jax Worriors in which HK played their hearts out during the second half to pull out the upset.
Oh—and all you kids who think you know what you’re talking about and are thinking about coming and posting some **** talking bad about what I just said, don’t. You will be wrong. I won’t tell you you can’t hate HK; you can do whatever the **** you want. But I will tell you you better be smart about it; if you come in here and post some stupid **** you’ll probably be made to look insanely stupid.
