Who would qualify? Is it something people would be willing to purchase?

should go to certified refs: people that have completed the training and have reffed national events.
I think it'd be a great way for people to know who's input to trust when discussing topics in this forum... right now it's like everyone has their opinion and their way, and you don't know who is a ref, or a rec player or what.

What is the deal with paying for badges lately? I understand that with Peyton's badge obviously as it was a donation.
Did the USPL players pay for a badge? I mean refs are out there busting their ***** for a small paycheck compared to what many of us could earn working elsewhere. To charge for a refs badge seems cheap to me.
Also qualifications for the badge...completed the PSP refs clinic and reffed at least one maybe two major events. Honestly you'd have to run it through Tim or whomever is his equal in the USPL to determine who would qualify.

there should be other factors instead of just cert. plus one or more major events. I have ref'd for over 13 years and used to ref the great western series, and have opened a field in cuba but haven't ref'd a major (hopefully that will change this season) but wont be able for a badge?

Hehe no worries my man. Sorry if that came off wrong...it just ticked me off to see the money question thrown into the equation right off the bat. It seems like nothing can ever happen without asking if someone can make money on it (with the very rare exception happening recently on pbn).
I think the idea is a good one it would just be a question of how to quality and how it would be managed.

Hey,
Why don't we have some sort of badge/banner saying whom the ones with decent experience in reffing are! - I think it is a great idea, especially if its a no cost deal
I think it would be easy to have a basic qualifying criteria (PSP Accreditation + 6 major events) under their belt.
To many have done the course and maybe one event and then think they know all there is.
Anyone with a minimum of a years worth of events will have a different outlook.

my idea on this is, why don't y'all just make an avatar for this instead of asking for a special badge? decide who deserves one and officialize it with a vote, approval by a leader(s), or whatever. if someone that shouldn't have one puts one in their avatar you can just contact me and i'll ask them to remove it or if they refuse i'll have it removed.

Every time we release a badge, people ask for a ref one, so I'm going to bump this.

I think it should be:
Completed official training & have cert
At least one season as a ref
At least one event reffed
APPA Number on file

I like all of railz points, except a minimum of 3-4 events reffed.

Maybe someone could gather individual info from the pbnation using refs at phoenix. If its not too tricky to put together, the badge could have like a # of reffed psp events to the side or in a corner.
The person collecting the info could get:
pbnation username
Number of events reffed including phx '10.
APPA Number
I realize that by listing events reffed would cause an update in the badge after each new event. So maybe there could be a range type thing. something along the lines of 1-5 events is a certain color or name, 6-10 is a different color or name, and so on and so forth.
What do you guys think?
