Yes, but You need to have a chamber at least the size of your Barrel and a valve larger then 1". That would allow you to run at about 55-60 PSI

Not true, I have great success, with a barrel half the length as the barrel, and operating at 80psi with a foot pump.. i get about 100-120 feet in distance.

Just go to your local hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) and ask someone in plumbing or hardward (if the store has an air compressor section then go there). You might feel stupid but just ask the worker how can I mount this to my pvc pipe. Thats what I do and it works. Or google/youtube it, you gte good results

You need to put a schreider (SP?) valve in (a tire valve), and a pressure gauge. Then you pump it up with a good pump that can actually hit thost psi before its own internal pressure release lets the pressure bleed out, thats why i uave a foot pump instead of a hand pump.
I also use an air falve like you'd see in a tire fill station at the gas station in between the chamber and the barrel, that way all i have to do is squeeze and BLAMMO, instant death to the tank/bunker in my sights!

the bicycle pump method sucks. trust me ive tried. your way better off making a 12 gram powered one. or if you want it for messing around use the tire valve but pick up a $20 air tank from wal mart or harbor freight tools. the bike pumps dont last at all. they arent meant to be used all the time. if you want to know how to make a 12 gram one look under Kompanie weapons then Panzerfaust on my Teams formus.
simple design that works is 2 inch pvc air chamber, valve and barrel. plus the cap for the airchamber and the tire valve.

Ya my team has had expierences with bike pump launchers, but honestly we hated having 2 pump it up everytime, so we bought a 12g co2 powered bike pump.

I've built dozens of launchers and the most important thing to keep in mind is safety. If you are going to build an air canister to store the air to power your shot here are some things to consider....
~ Attach a gauge to the canister. (Schd-40 can easily be tapped & threaded) It's important to know just how much psi is in there.
~ Attach a burst valve, I personally use a 100 psi one. It ensures that my canister will vent if filled over 100 psi.... that is well under the rating at which my Sched-40 canister will structurally fail.
~ Use a 1" sprinkler valve instead of a ball valve. The sprinkler valve 'dumps' instantly, several times faster than you can turn a ball valve handle, and that means more fps per psi. This type set-up nets you around 200+ fps @ 85psi with a nerf rocket.
If you think safety is secondary when using these just remember where you're putting them right before you shoot.... right next to your head!
