ABS is a more durable plastic than pvc, and is more heat resistant. Trust me, I worked in a hardware store for 2 years, kinda had to know stuff like that.

sch 40 pvc.....what are you using for power source?....If your using anything bigger than 12gram, you want to use gas fittings.... if you are staying under 100 psi, pvc fittings will work

umm actually PVC will work. my friend has a canon made out of very strong PVC. withstands up to about 400 psi. they fill it up to about 80 and launched a golf ball about 150-200 yds or so.

I know pvc will work, i was referring to the gas reservoir....if he puts a co2 tank up to pvc and tries to fill it, he will be eating plastic......unless he regulates it down, or makes a chamber out of gas fittings...

If your using pvc for the expansion chamber you should use a regulator, and remember volume is your friend. a large expansion chamber at a low psi will fire just as far as a small expansion chamber at a high psi. I am working on a artilery piece that uses a 4 inch by 14 inch expansion chamber and it can launch a nerf about 150 yards at 40 psi.

the basic construction was about 30 bucks each. Had to order the 12 grams off of ebay, that was a variety pack but you're looking at 20 bucks unless you get lucky.
the rest of the pimping was from stuff i had laying around.

SCH 40 PVC is rated for 280 PSI, and you need nothing close to that to launch a 2in rocket. I run mine at 60-70 psi.... and it shoots over 200 yards.. Since i dont need it to shoot that far im good

I use a HP 4500 tank and run it through an ION regulator to bring it down to my operating pressure.

you can buy pvc that can hold up to 850 psi, don't use co2, it will freeze the pipe and make it brittle, therefore causing the pvc to explode under pressure. pvc can actually hold up to double the air pressure its rated for before it explodes, but always keep varibles such as temperature an throwing you launcher around.
