Without reading the entire thread, here is my opinion.

For a gun to be worth $1650 it would have to....

-have useful innovations that no other gun has
-Be physically incapable of chopping a ball
-be super consistent (like only +/- 2 fps)
-Be uber fast, like 30+ BPS and even higher CPS
-Be smoother than any spool valve in existence
-get 2k+ shots off of a 68/45
-be battery efficient and a smooth electronic interface
-have little to no maintenance (i.e. a few drops of oil in the ASA)
-be quiet
-small, lightweight, and balanced
-short lock time
-comfortable frame and trigger
-cocker threaded barrel or give me a full barrel kit w/ it
-all the amenities (on/off ASA, threaded feedneck, etc.)

Put that all on a gun and I will pay $1650 for it. However, the Luxe falls more than short when it comes to these qualifications as far as I can tell. End of story.

Lies, a Spyder is a blow-back gun. A Timmy is a rammer gun. Just because they have some dimensions that are the same doesn't make them the same. If that were the case then an Excalibur is also a spyder because it uses an 11/16" bore, and the same valve minus the blow-back holes. Or a Timmy is a DM because they both have an LPR.

I do believe Sean@SmartPartswest just got pwnt.

Edit: Since all Sean@SmartPartswest is doing is calling other people trolls telling them that all guns being compared to the Luxe are crap, isn't he being an uber-troll?

So, since you are not at all saying things related to what this forum is about, shouldn't you, you know, go elsewhere?

The sad thing is many people will still be willing to pay this ridiculous amount.

Smart Parts pays to advertise on this site, and seeing as how he is a representative of SP he can do whatever he wants. As unbelievable as that is, that is how it works.

Out of everyone in this thread, I can assume most if not all havent seen (up close) let alone fired the Luxe.

Dont be upset that SP is backing this gun.

-be super consistent (like only +/- 2 fps)
-Be uber fast, like 30+ BPS and even higher CPS - how many guns out there (mid/high end) arent. And when will you ever need 30+ bps. PSP just dropped their max bps to 13.33 from 15 if i can remember correctly.
-Be smoother than any spool valve in existence - because thats legit
-get 2k+ shots off of a 68/45 - if you have the opportunity to fill up after every round this doesnt matter, although i will give you it can be a hassle

-be battery efficient and a smooth electronic interface
-have little to no maintenance (i.e. a few drops of oil in the ASA)
-be quiet - again, how many mid let alone high end guns arent quiet. Its speedball, why do you need to be quiet
-small, lightweight, and balanced - how many guns are extremely heavy that you pay for over 400 anymore? hit the weight room
-short lock time
-comfortable frame and trigger
-cocker threaded barrel or give me a full barrel kit w/ it - this has what to do with anything?
-all the amenities (on/off ASA, threaded feedneck, etc.) - duh...

Put that all on a gun and I will pay $1650 for it. However, the Luxe falls more than short when it comes to these qualifications as far as I can tell. End of story.
Every single *highly* priced gun will fall short on some aspects of that perfectly stated list, as he is a credible and unchallenged expert in any and all fields of study of the Paintball Industry. His knowledge of all guns (low, mid, as well as high end) exceeds any other, as well as the expectations of just a single player. May we all bow to his feet and praise, honor, and glorify him as the, Men of all Men, King of all Kings, and Lord of all Lords.

You completely missed the point of his post., as he is a credible and unchallenged expert in any and all fields of study of the Paintball Industry Because he somehow implied he was . Seriously, if you're going to insult somehow, don't invent comments to insult, use what the individual said.. His knowledge of all guns (low, mid, as well as high end) exceeds any other, as well as the expectations of just a single player Again, you're not making a good arguement here. He never said he had any exceptional kind of insight, you're just being a douche.. May we all bow to his feet and praise, honor, and glorify him as the, Men of all Men, King of all Kings, and Lord of all Lords. Fail.

So, what exactly did you think the topic was? The first post in this thread was:

This implies the thread is about the cost of the Luxe. The post implies that he thinks $1650 is a large sum, as before he felt that spending even $1400 on a paintball marker was high.

The post you quoted was someone saying what a gun would need to be to be worth $1650 in their opinion. So, the post was pretty on topic, and certainly moreso than your reply.

Or perhaps he claimed to show some insight and lead others to believe off second hand knowledge of what a High End gun may be.

I took exactly what he stated and simply stated my opinion.

As you did with mine.

The topic is how expense the Gun is. Not ragging on it.

As you would say,

Fail.

From what I read, he clearly says that what he posted is his opinion. Nowhere does he claim that he knows better about the gun than anyone else. He just says he doesn't think that the marker is worth $1650. Now, if an individual is influenced by this, that's not his fault, as the post is perfectly legitimate.

I took exactly what he stated and simply stated my opinion. You took part of what he stated and spun it to make a comment.

As you did with mine. I took exactly what you said and made a comment. More direct.

The topic is how expense the Gun is. Not ragging on it. Ragging on it? Look, if someone says "I think buying a green pencil for $2 is expensive!", and someone replies "For $2, I wouldn't buy it unless it has an eraser!", that's pretty on topic. And, though not exactly what thatdoolinkid said, it serves as an appropriate analogy.

As you would say,

Fail.
You're not allowed to fail yourself. It doesn't work that way

You can't do that! Then we can't argue more!

Edit: I was just posting in an OT thread. Erm... yeah. I don't want to delete this post.

Edit2: To make this post legitimate, I personally think that the Luxe could turn out pretty nice. I think having the speaker is a bit gimmicky, but I haven't used it, so I don't really know. The bolt thing is cool, too. Can't really have an opinion on it until I shoot one myself, though.

First off, 90% of a spyder and intimidator work the same. An intimidator is an upgraded spyder according to everything being said. You saw how he responded on it. He was insulted that I called his Timmy a Spyder. But yet he comes on here and starts ripping on the Luxe saying that it's an ion, mini, freestyle. But others are not to be offended by that? It's fair game to me. Next up, yes I feel the price of the Luxe is a bit high for my budget, but me crying about it on PbN ain't gonna drop the price. And as far as selling new guns for a higher price just to lower it later... lets look at the king of this. Lets go back 5 years ago and look at Mr. Bob Long and his guns he was selling. We would see a new timmy every 6 months (unlike every year like Dye was/is doing) and when the new milling on a timmy came out, the price was like $1300 and the one that was now last half-year dropped. Same gun, same mechanics, new milling = totally new gun. And a lot of people were crazy enough to go out and buy a new one every 6 months just to have the milling. But no one talked about Bob Long in it for the money. Even when he threw his temper-tantrum like a freaking 5 year old at World Cup in 2004 because ESPN wasn't going to record the 3rd-4th place game for TV. What was the outcome of that? He had his Ironmen pack up and leave without even playing the match! No one talks about that anymore. And lets not forget recently what he said in an interview. How he has his team this year basically paying him to play on his team because he lost over $50,000 last year paying for his team to play tournaments. They are basically paying him total OVER the amount he says he lost last year. He's make'n a proffit off of the guys on his team! But oh sure hate on smart parts and talk how they have overpriced everything just to make a proffit. Everyone still talks about the lawsuits that they filled back then.

Now there is a new company called DLX Technology that everyone is hate'n on just because they are backed by Smart Parts. You rip on their marker, you cry about Smart Parts this and that and the pattents that were used in make'n the Luxe and how other companies have used it first. You all don't know anything about DLX Tech., let alone the Luxe but yet you pass judgement on them already. How about you all try it out first, or if it's to expensive for you and you know you're not gonna buy one... shut yer co... eh, chicken holster. I for one want to learn more about this marker and what makes it have an MSRP of $1650. Stop flame'n the equipment just cause mommy and daddy tell you it's to expensive and they won't buy you one.

In no way shape or form does an ego run like a spyder.

if he said a LEGEND is better, then your statement would be correct.

I`m quite amused of your "professionalism" Sean.

I`m sorry to burst your bubble man but I wont be buying a 1600 dollar shocker.

Sorry. My frustrations come out occasionally. I hold my cool for the most part. Heck.. I have too. But, it comes out every now and then. I used to work at KAPP. And he brought up the timmy. We were making parts for it.. and we chuckled when we were measuring stuff and it was identical to a Spyder.

Planet Eclipse can have a marker that MSRP's above this, with MINOR improvements over the "standard" 08 and not receive the hate like Smart Parts does. The Luxe is a totally new gun with innovative features and it receives such hate.... people need to give it a chance before they start cutting it up.
