Aluminum Bolt Pins

Hey guys, I'm thinking about doing some aluminum bolt pins for the Legend. I've done pins for Egos and AKA markers and they've worked out great. They're made of 7075 aluminum for strength and wear resistance.

Advantages will be:
Lighter weight (could reduce kick, etc.)
Anodizable for custom colors
Can sit lower to the top tube (lower profile)
Shiny new product

I'm trying to gauge the interest in these to decide whether or not I can do a run of them. I'm also open to the design for the head of the pin. I was thinking a the "flying saucer" style pins that I did for AKA guns would look nice. Here's some pics of the other pins that I have done. Thanks!

I don't want to turn this into a BST thread (just informational only) but they'll be comparable in price to the Ego and AKA pins. The simpler the design the cheaper they will be. If I start getting into non-cylindrical shapes like stars and squares it will require another setup and operation in the mill and drive the cost up. But whatever the market wants I suppose.

Since aluminum is a soft metal, what is the possibility of damage due to hammering of the rammer on the pin?

I've found with the Ego and AKA pins that if the fit of the pin in the hammer slot is made to a tight tolerance the pin is not slammed into by the hammer but rather accelerated with it. This causes the "hammering" effect to become more of a shear stress that the pin can withstand. I also made the pins out of high strength 7075-T651 aluminum instead of standard 6061-T651. So far I've only heard of one failure on the Ego pins out of hundreds. I have not seen the pin in person to determine why it fractured though.

I'd be willing to make a prototype and let someone put a lot of cycles on it to make sure that it will not fail though.

id be willing to test out

and on another note

color kits are coming out for the legend (50$$)

and this would be a nice addition to it

edit .... not sure how effective this would be with the soft face ... ill check it out sometime this week

(the soft face does not have the pin retention hex screw)

I would get a yellow or red one!

Maybe just a simple little circle on the top? Nothing to extreme and bulky.

Yeah you have to remove the whole softface fixture inside to bolt to remove the pin. I would also be willing to do testing and reviews or w/e cuse my bolt pin currently has about 1cm or more of forward to backward play and I need a new one I think intrest would be as high as it is for any other open bolt marker.

the pin isnt even that thick

do you have the V1 rammer? because if you do its definately bent

edit: just to note ... i was informed by someone that the soft face didnt have a renetion screw ... i even asked them if it was in the front and they said no

but again ... thanks for clearing that up fossil

The soft face has a roll pin you'd have to knockout. It will let the bolt assembly come apart.

Pic-

I'd be willing to test one on my soft face bolt. I like the ones you did for the ego design.

So, if mine does happen to break, it could fracture my rammer?
