I've had the same Kelty pack since I was in 5th grade, I'm actually surprised it still fits

Eh, 60lbs is a nice easy weight for me. That doesn't include whatever is on my flak or LBV.

Now, the questions are: How far do you go and how fast?

this is only like my "day pack" I can't find one of the one I use on actual overnight trips

Kelty Redwing
lol, our "day pack" is supposed to carry enough supplies for three days

The one they gave us is a piece of crap. Thats why a lot of companies (like Camelbak) make some of their packs in Coyote Brown and ACU pattern.

Well, depending on who is with me I like to go maybe 20-60 minutes per mile, I like to go a little bit on the faster side to get me ready if I ever want to join the army/marines.

Tommorrow I'm going on a light trip though, only 4 miles in, 3 out but since I'm going with my friend's dad whose never been backpacking, it may take up to 2 hours going in including lunch

I have an Osprey pack, and even though i've never used Kelty, i'd say it's got to be hard to beat. I have used Patagonia too and have no compaints about it either.

Ive started carrying heavier packs with me on all my smaller hikes just to try to get into better shape. '

I think i might hike Arab mountain this weekend if I can find someone who wants to go.

None of my friends from school like going hiking or climbing or anything, which sucks. Arab is like a 4 mile round trip, and I still have trouble convincing them to go

well, I am at school in Potsdam, so I am actually North of the Adirondacks right now. Its like a 45 minute drive to get there.

back home i am much closer to Saratoga than albany, in Burnt Hills, so not very long. Im like 20 minutes, from the northville-placid trail

Nice, I'm like 3 and half hours away so I can't go that often

Did you go to Burnt Hills/ Ballston Lake for High School?

I have a question...If i'm going to stay in a state park for a couple nights (Baxter state, maine), The park rules and regulations say I need to stay at a campsite. If i'm on the AT however (which runs right through the park) would i still be able to camp on that at night even though its not a designated camping area?

local protocalls overrule everything, so you need to stay at a camp

60lbs is a rough estimate, who knows what it will end up being.
