is it adjustable? you might want to back out some of the set-screws. If it's not adjustable try tapping the safety in with a hammer. Work it until it goes smooth.

Did you install the double trigger yourself?

as long as it's in the right way, it'll work.

oh, and for the record, you don't really need a safety with a mech. if you're dumb enough to "accidentally" shoot something with a trigger pull like that (i had a 98c with a double trigger for about a year and a half), there's something wrong.

I have to agree. Even if you get your safety working, never EVER trust it to prevent you from pulling the trigger for 2 (count them TWO) reasons:

1.)It's incredibly easy to accidently turn the safety off on 98's

2.) I've seen MANY MANY guns shoot with the safety on. This can happen due to sear wear, safety wear, or just plain crappy safetys.

For your protection and the protection of those around you, invest in a barrel condom. I say this for your sake, your friend's sake, and the sake of ballers everywhere, because the fewer people getting eyes shot out balling the better for all of us.

safteys on 98;s are the most reliable safety feature by far, always have a BBD (barrel blocking device) and make sure masks are on, but if you really need it workin there should be some little screws , just mess around with them untill you get it workin

the saftey on my a5 and 98c has not always prevented it from shooting. Always use a barrel plug or barrel condom and you wont have to worry about accidentally shooting something or someone.

No. Accidents happen, however. Not everyone puts a barrel cover/plug on their barrel, and I've seen guns shoot if they are accidentally dropped (especially electronic markers). Balls have been shot through barrel cover, barrel plugs have been shot out of barrels; a whole host of problems accompany each part of these "safety devices" (as we can obviously see with the threadstarter). Just because you have one safety device in place does not mean that the marker is safe.

If you can't get it fixed by yourself, post a picture of your installation / gripframe opened up in the tippmann forum. More than likely you just didn't put it correctly.

1) I don't think I've seen an electronic gun that costs more than 100 dollars with a safety
2) If they are shot through barrel covers, the cover will have sufficiently decelerated the ball enough that it doesn't life-threateningly injure someone.

My point was not electronic markers in general, but I used that example so someone who might not have understood my post the way it was worded could understand it through that example.

You're telling me that no matter what, if a ball goes through a barrel cover, there is no way it can do any damage to someone? What if it was old and deteriorated and the ball went through it then? What if it had shoddy stitching, and the ball went through the weak stitches? What if the barrel plug did not fit the barrel correctly and could slide out easier than if it were the correct size? There are too many variables in these situations to make your gross assumption correct.

the basic point is that all of the safty devices that are used, arent completly fail proof. But they dramatically decrease injury and risk due to misfires and accidents.

No safty device will be failproof they are there to decrease the chance somethign can happen

still, most fields require some sort of safety mechanism. Even if it doesn't work.
