is the sight worth it?

I just got a red-dot site from my brother, it is one of those nice like 75$ sites that you find on actionvillage and stuff. I have an A-5 with a freak barrel kit(haven't used it yet, waiting for it to arrive), using this tank http://www.catalinacylinders.com/(I couldn't even tell you if it was HP or LP because it doesn't say on the tank). What I want to know is would it be worth using the sight with an off-set or should I not even bother. I was also thinking about getting a regulator, would that make enough of a difference to make the site useful then?

As far as i understand it, you can't use sights, scopes, or lasers with paintball guns . . . cause of the arc. Now unless theres a way to compensate for this im not sure, I havn't seen anything about that. I just assume everyone likes they way they look on their guns.

As far as the tank goes i hope for you sake that it's HP cause a normal tippmann can't work on LP. But it sounds like you've used the tank already, so it's gotta be HP.

Don't bother with the reg, invest the money in a metal rachet for the Cyclone, or something.

red-dot sights are all personal preference, although that's pretty cool getting it free from your bro. I don't like them cause they don't come into play until you're already so far away from your target that every ball is going to have a significantly different trajectory so sight becomes useless. (Breath) Just practice snap-shooting. A regulator will make a BIG difference (well, it did for me). if you can't afford a Palmer's Stab (~$100 new,~$70 used) or Hybrid Sparta (~$70 new) google R-2000 and try that one. It would screw into your tombstone and the old tombstone fitting would screw into the reg.

What?? I didnt know paintball guns have sights?!?!?! lol!!
Sights on PB guns are almost useless. Some people like them, some dont.
Your already running HPA so it really doesnt need a reg, but it helps a little to "tune" it so it doesnt eat as much air.

I found an old CopperHead red dot sight that I had on an old BB Gun out on my parents farm. Being as it was made for dovetail, it mounted right onto my 98C. You can find those at Wal-Mart and Fleet Farm for cheap and they work just as good. It really does come down to preference but the type of game play should be considered. I play woods ball and mine can come in very handy. As for compensating for the curve of the ball.....its hard to get them dead on. Its not like you'll ever be able to consistently hit your opponents between the eyes but you can sight into a general area. Set up your gun the way you like it and get the most consistent spread on an area that you can, then sight the dot to the center of that spread. As for distance, that is going to depend on your gun and, again, type of game play. Hope that helps.

I have $30 BSA 30mm red dot from walmart on my X7... As far as being worth it I love mine!!! It isn't used for distant ****s its for quick targeting and does so very well.. If you decide to put it on ur marker.. Setup a target bout 60-70ft away and use a stable bench or table and zero it in...

How about aiming above your target

If you play woodsball or scenario, sometimes it's necessary to make one hit kills where you have to take an opponent out without giving them time to react.

if you have a nice reg set up and proper paint to bore match you can put balls on top of each other, i know i can. i used a BSA reddot and had it set for about 60 feet and just had to aim a tiny bit above for longer shots. it was nice for ambushing but useless on the speedball field.

the thing with paintball sights that most people don't realize is that they go out one day using the sight and it shoots where they want it to shoot every time. but when they play they forget the fact that a mask makes it hard to look down

i had a reddot for my A5, but i didnt like it all that much. it seemed to narrow my feild of veiw and gave me a little tunnel vision.

but....it was pretty accurate. i use a flatline, so the trajectory is quite flat. so it allows the use of a scope more.

my advice would be to sell it and get a different mod for your gun.

your supposed to zero them with your goggles on, if you cant see thru it you need a riser, especially if you have a stock.

reddots are made to be used with BOTH eyes open. scopes are for one eye used and some pro shooters say your supposed to keep both eyes open to keep your pupils from dilating.

yes, SCOPES are pretty much useless on paintball guns the eye relief is usually shorter than the distance from your goggles to your eye thus making them not work. reddots have unlimited eye relief and if you zero it for a close enough shot and you have good paint to barrel match you should be all set.

just rember....if you play any nightball and you have that thing on, it may as well be a target. just rember without a good paint to bore match, or if you'r shooting crap paint you will be off quite a bit

I own one and a lot of people ask about the sight. I have mine set up so where I am it shoots perfect. I only use it when I am waiting for someones head to pop up from a bunker and I can usually hit it. All and all I think it is for sure worth it to have one on your gun but you really have to fine tune it or else you will not be able to hit anything.
