Best bands which had their lead singer die too soon

As the title says, who do you guys think are some of the better bands who had their lead singer die before they were in their prime (or while they were in their prime)? I'll add bands to the list.

The list:

Sublime - Brad Nowell (1996) Heroine OD
Snot - Lynn Straight (1998) Traffic Accident...killed his dog too
Nirvana - Kurt Cobain (1994) Suicide
Blind Melon - Richard Shannon Hoon (1995) Cocaine OD
Jimi Hendrix - same (1970) Alcohol Asphyxiation? (possible heroine use?)
The Doors - Jim Morrison (1971) Heroine OD? (no autopsy)
AC/DC - Bon Scott (1980) Alcohol Poisoning
Death - Chuck Shuldiner (2001) Pneumonia (related to brain cancer)
Robert Johnson - same (1938) Poisoned Whisky
Joy Division - Ian Curtis (1980) Suicide
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Ronnie Van Zant (1977) Plane Crash (along with 2 other band members)
Stevie Ray Vaughn - same (1990) Helicopter Crash
Jeff Buckley - same (1997) Drowning
Richie Valens - same (1959) Plane Crash
Buddy Holly - same (1959) Plane Crash

Honorable Mentions

Alice in Chains - Layne Staley (2002) Cocaine and Heroine OD
Bob Marley - same (1981) Melanoma

I guess people don't mind AC/DC on here, but a lot of people hate Angus.

Right but people on here (that shall remain nameless) think that because he wasn't as technical as some other guitarists, that means he sucks. I don't think I could find another guitarist that could use the same chords so much and still have a lot of different sounding guitar riffs.

Lynard Skynard. Morrison died of heart failure, probably due to drug and alcohol use as a whole. Blind Melon? How many hit songs did they have? Like one. Not that great of a band.

Jim Morrison, hands down. The Doors music was amazing in it's time and still is amazing. I just wish we had more of it to listen today.

And Sid Vicious. Not necessarily the lead singer, but a MAJOR icon in one of the most influential punk bands in the history of punk, the Sex Pistols.

1. It's heroin
2. Hendrix died from drinking wine and then taking sleeping pills to fall asleep. He passed out and choked on his vomit. No other drugs involved.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division. How can you have a list like that without having one of the most talented and tragic figures of rock history on it.

Everyone should check out the Ian Curtis biopic Control.

I know it was well past their prime, but Brad Delp from Boston. IMO he is one of the greatest vocalist of all time.

Staley died in 2002....clearly past the height of Alice in Chains' career....still a tragedy.

Again, Sid Vicious wasn't a lead singer....a tragedy no less...but the list would be incredibly long if I listed every band member who ever died in their prime.

Lynyrd Skynyrd added. Blind Melon's Richard Hoon died at the height of their career.....their self titled album went 4x Platinum.
