So I talked to Chris Raehl, and he has convinced me that I should try and start a team here at the campus. I would love to get one going come next year 2008-2009, but first I would like to find out who else goes to school here that is on the nation.
I would like to get together with everyone and at least start a club.
Thanks,
Solidius

Edit: 4 May 2008
I have found a faculty member to be our supervisor.
Sfc. Brian Eisch from the ROTC program. I talked to him and he said he'd be more than happy to do it.
For your own knowledge, Sgt. Eisch is a former Drill Sergeant. So you know we will be in damn good shape.

You are my hero. I was actually just thinking of this today. Have you done any planning of it yet, or are you just gauging interest at this point? I would be more than willing to help out as best I can to make sure this gets off the ground.

yea guys get one started. if you have any questions go to the college forum and ask there on how to start one and how to get funding,
i go to uww and we are #1 in the nation, isu might beat us soon tho. but get a club started. if u compete in the ncpa then you will be in our division. the midwest north division, well thats if you do class AA (5man) class A is xball,. but the midwest north is the hardest division in the country.
good luck to ur team/club

Do it. Paintball club/teams are nice. You get funding to go and play paintball. Our funding is min. next year. Probably won't be playing in many NCPA events. We might be getting some sponsors though If you get a competitive team set up at UW La Crosse PM me and we can set up some practices or something. Also, try to advertise when starting up the club/team. Signs, email, anything to get new members.
Ion103 is probably right our MW division is the hardest for AA college paintball this year with 9 teams in the top 12 or something like that. Only if those south Cal colleges played college paintball instead of NPPL we would be the second hardest division.

Basically right now I'm still at the gauging interest at this point. I want to get a feel of how many serious players are around here, and it's lookin good so far.
This is the pbreview link of closet fields to the campus:
http://www.pbreview.com/fields/51/page1/sort8/
It looks like the closet is in Holman, but I'm still to get out there.
The whole funding thing is another issue that I am a little worried about. My thoughts will be as a first year club we can expect to get little to no funding, and hopefully move up. Sponsors will be just as difficult, which will make paying for tournys harder (mainly paint).
I am hoping that with a couple of days I will get in contact with Chancellor Gow and throw the idea out in the air. He's a real cool guy (I mean he's a blues musician, yes!), and I can see him going for somethin like this.
I am not expecting this to easy, it will be hard. (that's what she said )
How does everyone feel about an awesome pump-only team?

Im on 100% up to that line.
But yeah I have the same concerns you do. Im expecting zero funding from the school unless they think it is a radical idea. Sponsors is also going to be an issue.
Paintball and college don't go well together. The most money demanding activity combined with the most money demanding post high school choice.
I would say just contact other captians and presidents and ask their advice.

It looks like Back 80 which is in MN and is about 26mins away from La Crosse. It has a full Xball field. So as far as practice that seems the best route but then again, im not sure.

Back 80 sold their xball field last i heard. and as far as sponsors go, you should try and hit up some local businesses. Tons of places support the school and the clubs.
There is Skyline paintball in Rochester. a little over an hour away from campus.

So, my plan right now.
I would love to get together with everyone who is interested in this at the campus soon, just to get to know everyone.
I am going to start a facebook group, UWLAX Paintball Club, so that we communicate through that, too. Creator- John Lindholm.
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11626639299
Tomorrow, I am going to call the chancellor's office and see if I can meet with him to at least project the idea.
I have a buddy who goes to UW-Plattville. He is going to trying to get a copy of their constitution, so that we can get an idea what we have to do.

I live around Green Bay right now, but I can make it to wherever for this. Maybe we could all meet up and play together even?

I went and got the paperwork for all of it.
There are a lot of requirements to even be considered as a club/ student organization on campus here.
Let the fun of lots of writing and paper cuts begin

If you need help with anything, let me know. I would hate for you to have to do all of the work involved in getting this going.
Sometime I think that we should all meet up and do some discussion, maybe split up the duties, and then of course play
