NPPL or PSP event in VA?
Wouldn't it be awesome if the NPPL or PSP held an event in VA? There's tons of players here, so it would be huge. What do you think are the chances of this happening? Where could it be held at though? The Showplace? I think that it could happen if we start a petition or e-mail the crap out of the NPPL or PSP. What do you think?

From what I understand, the NE Open in 2009 is tentatively slated for Pevs new field on Route 15. They've talked to the neighbors about using the fields for parking and they have room for semi's, vendor tents, etc. One of the early plans would have been to have it there this year but with the delays in construction AAPP in Greensburg PA is going to have the NE Open in August 2008 instead. (Just a note to the poster above, AAPP is nowhere near Philly, it's located between Greensburg PA and Latrobe PA...roughly 50 miles from downtown Pittsburgh...on the other side of the state from Philly).
Also, please don't spam Keely with emails. Email bombing the PSP folks won't help the cause. Todd and Pev have more pull with them than you guys would by sending mass emails.

I had heard that there was talk with PSP about holding an event down here at Va Beach. Nothing much, just talks. Probably would never happen, as there isn't a field big enough here like a PBC Charlotte, nor would the city let us destroy the sports complex.
What lopez said is a much more likely scenario, but I really don't think the scene in VA is that large to say that it would be a huge event. It would be a minor event, nothing like a Chicago or Cup. Tourism is huge in the beach area, so to make it not a huge hassle for the teams with hotels and transportation, they'd have to hold it as the first event, before tourism starts to pick up. NOVA would be a different scenario.

NoVA has a more substantial infrastructure beyond hotels to accomodate the event (mainly Dulles Airport being 10 miles from the site). The only real issue would be lodging since you'd have to go into Chantilly, Manassas or around Dulles for hotels. Even still, I'm pumped being that my house is like 6 miles from the field.

I believe it was NPPL, not PSP that there were talks about having in Va Beach. I heard about it a couple years ago.

Sorry, didn't think about how much Keely and the rest of the PSP people would hate us if we sent a barrage of e-mails. I deleted that post.

Sterling Blvd is nearly 20 miles from the new field though, though you're right, they are putting in tons of hotel space off 28. That won't be an issue...there's just really nothing within 10 miles.
