yeah, they generally wouldnt ticket you for it unless you pissed him off. its kinda like the no sticker on a windshield rule.
and yeah the v1 does have a lot of falses in the big city. if you live in a town of 100000 or less go for it though

in my country police has new toys. They can check your speed from upto 1000meters and need for this only 0,3seconds!
While riding my cbr1000rr I don't stop.

i've been reading reviews on radartest.com.

As for the devices that are under $100.....would it be worth it? or should i just invest in a premium model?

i rarely go WOT on the highways, but do lots of spirited driving in the mountains. And alot of police are always in the pass watching out for drifters and what not.

opinions?

it would be a waste of money. Save up some more cash and get an escort x50 8500 or a V1. I know you can get the escort i mentioned on ebay for like $250.

yeah, nothing under 300$ is just a general rule. a 100$ detector will prettymuch tellyou when your getting pulled over. dont sweat the money though its a good investment

thanks guys for your opinions. I guess i just have to be patient and save up for a good one.

But does anyone know if it will pick up a police radar if i were driving in windy, elevation changing mountain roads?

Police have to be in line with the velocity vector of your car to get a reading, so they won't be able to clock you from around a curve. A detector like a Valentine 1 or Passport 8500/9500 should be able to pick up radar from far enough away to give you enough time to slow down.

Police scanner or radar detector. That's about it.

anything above 300$ will generally do the trick, the thing is though in the mountains it is a little harder to get it.
-my v1 has detected cops like 2 miles away before on this long stretch of road, plenty of time to slow down. but sometimes it gives me about 1/3 mile or less because the cop car is behind tons of other cars and it dulls the signal. that would also probably be the case in windy mountains, the mountains would dull the signal because of curves and such. however idk if it is a pretty uncrowded mountain pass or not, if it is you will probably be fine with a nice detector but if you are the only car on the road a police officer will most likely just use instant on and it wont matter.

jammers make it so the cop cant get a reading on you(just laser jammers so far i think), detectors just tell you when they know there is one ahead.

IMO a jammer is the only way to go. With laser getting very precise and less scattered, even with the best detector it's getting to be a tall order. The best jammers will jam for a few moments giving you time to slow down before allowing the laser to get a reading. This is the most realistic as the officer will think their is only some kind of momentary interference. Downside is jammers are illegal in most places, and almost always require a professional install.

Jammers are actually legal in most places.

radar detectors are only illegal in dc and virginia
and jammers are not the way to go. most tickets are not issued with laser. and you also dont know when you are supposed to slow down with just a jammer.
(for laser jammers like veil for instance.)

I haven't been hit with k band in 8 months now. Every department around here uses laser. And the phaser shifter works in sync with the passport and tells you when you are hit and jams accordingly.
