Ugh. You're very annoying.
People are engaging me in conversation about it, and most of the discussion is on-topic. Juice, as much against me as he is, has actually been debating me in a respectful sense, as have others.
You may not find it has a point, but I do. Therefore it's a valid thread, to me. Others may agree. Others may not.

I realize it's something that happens through way of people NEEDING to classify, but when things are classified as something they're not, it's strange. Panic is a very poppy band. They're not even inspired by the emo-genre, they're pop, and rock. They're a band the majority of the emo culture despise and call "poppy bull****".
That's kind of what makes them one of the most hated bands. Some people just hear them described as emo and instantly hate them, others listen to the emo genre and hate them after hearing them. It's why I make them my example

Until emo breaks into a million sub-genres like metal has, Panic and all those other ****ty bands will be labeled as such.

As stupid of a discussion as this is, I ****ing thrive off a good debate, whether it's with a troll or an educated moron (if you know what I mean). I do agree, this discussion is insanely idiotic and above all pointless, but I thoroughly enjoy it nonetheless.

We should all leave it at that, and let this thread die.

This depends on your definition of emo, which again is also subjective depending on the era, band, etc...
One characteristic associated with the second wave of emo bands, and has been blown up in recent years, is the use of emotional diary-entryesque lyrics.
I don’t love you I'm just passing the time
You could love me if I knew how to lie
But who could love me?
I am out of my mind
Throw an old line out to sea
To see if I can catch a dream
Sounds pretty gay erm....... diary-entryesque, to me.

The song and delivery is actually really Beatles-like. I don't like the rest of the song, but that one part is nice.
I'll settle on this:
They might've previously been slightly inspired by emo, but after their recent album, I find it impossible to classify them as that.

Well, the purpose of this thread wasn't to defend them in all honesty, and if people dislike them I don't mind at all. I just enjoy their new album as I find it Beatles/The Birds-esque. If anyone was a fan of either The Beatles or The Birds, I could probably give you a song you would enjoy. But I know most of the people like Metal.

I'm way too lazy to read all this, but just a general statement. I hate the fact that there is a genre labeled "emo." Any music worth listening to has emotions and an emotional side to it. So **** the people that labeled the crying genre emo, it should just be called "*****."
/end of senseless rant.

^^^ I agree. It's a stupid genre name. Emo was just what a bunch of Washington bands were called, for their style of music, and it stuck.

As I have said, I made this thread because they were my example of how some bands who are of different genres are thrown into Emo.

That picture is actually inspired by a Circus show they went to as band. Their entire album/style/selling point was. That's why the videos all have clowns/circus inspired imagery in it.
As for the album content, it's all poppy-rock. All of it.
