^I did. I hope it's smaller. They need to start thinning out the grip frames.

I'm wonder what would be a better thing to do... buy one of these or get a virtue with eyes for my current pilot?

^^well, these guns would be all around better guns, and the fact that you'll have a complete other gun basically for the price the upgrades would cost for your current one, I'd say it would be a better idea to buy one of these new guns. Also, keep in mind that you could sell your current gun to lighten the blow. Then it would be like buying a whole bunch of upgrades at a discounted price.

you still need a $50 pilot to begin with, which goes just about even.

Seriously, if spyder is trying to make a quality gun, why not bump the price up five bucks and give it a feedneck that will last, or a quality barrel. By making their prices as low as possible, they are making their gun as crappy as possible while still being able to say it has eyes! They think that new paintballers will think that a spyder pilot with eyes is the same as a good PMR or another higher quality gun for half of the price! Why on earth don't they just make some guns that could perform well. I constantly feel bad for kids who are sitting out games because their spyder has a broken feedneck, or is jammed with chopped balls.

the new electra looks like it may be able to compete with the PMR and such, but I sort of agree about the pilot. It does have some good points (the LEAP board, trigger, eyes.) but other than that it doesn't appear to be that much different other than the body style. I'm not all that impressed with the new pilot, but am looking forward to the electra. Can't wait for someone to get one so the GUT IT chant can start in earnest...lol

I really like the looks of the new electra plus it has on/off, reg, and the LEAP deal.

Found msrp! $209.95 for pilot
249.95 for electra

Ridiculous if you ask me

there is a whole thread about the MSRP. that hopefully won't be the selling price. I think I saw dre put up something that the selling price is more like 160 for the pilot and 200 for the electra

Seriously.
They have nothing in common.
These are beginner guns.
Not DP.
DP doesn't aim their sales at young/beginning players with low budgets.

I can't believe I'm responding to you.

150 plus time and work I'm certainly glad your time means nothing to you. Let's say you put in 5 hours for half backing, reducing the striker, moving the frame forward, and drilling for eyes. Depending on your age, let's say you make about $10 an hour (any more would actually be worse, so I don't want to hear you say "I make $100+ and hour as a so and so"). That's $50 already. Then you have to take the gun itself into consideration. Another $50 if you look long enough, which adds more time anyways. Personally, I'd rather just buy the gun and play the game. Save the tinkering for later.

[QUOTE-thenorwegianguy]this is dp fusion rip off!!![/quote]
... well, who do you think THEY ripped off to get THEIR gun? Kingman and Bob long should be the ONLY people who can ever talk about being ripped off by some random company who stole their stacked tube design.

The guns look pretty good. I'll almost guarantee the MSRP is higher then the MAP, so it's really not worth worrying about. Whoever wants one, buy one. Gut it and do a GOOD review and tell us what's up with it.
