I am officialy a back player, need tips!

Ok, so me and my buddies just made a 3 man team and I have an ion with a 14" barrel. We are a speedball team and will be practicing in a field by one of their houses for free. Any suggestions on how I can complete decimate them. (remember, I am a back player now XD)

if you are playing 3-man...youd better get good at playing other positions as well, 'cause if someone on your team get out...guess who's taking their place...

^FTW^

also learn to speak to your team, they're relying on you to know where everyone is, so you need to be able to tell them where they are where they're shooting and if someone moves.
and lane lane lane

No such thing as a backplayer.

Communicateion is the second most important thing. The first is "don't die." Alot of playing back is putting guy in so your fronts can move. Learn what wrapping is and posting. Playing back isn't just shooting 10 cases you could get by with 1 1/2.

yes. i play back also, so here is a list of the things to do, in order of importance.

1. get a well paying job,
2. buy alot of paint,
3. buy alot pods,
4. buy a big pod pack,
5. put rules 2,3,4 together
6. use all aspects of rule number 5 by shooting shooting and shooting
7. Dont get hit, you are the backbone of the team, without you, you wil have no chance playing a good team.
8. Dont go for the kill, its not your job
9. Yell
10. Most importantly, be better than there back player.

as a back player your main objective is to shoot/cover lanes, gettin kills is the last on your list.

Shoot alot of paint to cover the field and really walk the field to see all the lanes there are, ex. where you can shoot them and where they can shoot you, and the blind spots. Have a real good relationship with your front man if you are playing a corner to know what he is going to do, you should know what he going to do second nature. Talk alot and make sure to be vocal about it. Dont try to the hero, if you are in the back you are in the back and your first job is to make sure to cover your front guys and make sure they stay alive. Try to also learn how to fill the position of your front guy just incase he gets shot. Try practicing sweet spoting drills with you gunning and a runner to the corner and other variations. Thats pretty much it, as long as you can make it to your corner or stay in the back center alive off the break you should be good to go.

Besides whats been said,

Play tight. I see so many back players get shot out because they are playing sloppy.

fixed

but yea, work on running and gunning to corner bunkers off the break, be able to hold down lanes consistently, yell a lot, play a lot of 1v3,1v2 games in practice, because u may see a number of those once you start playing tournaments......

also, even though u are a back man, play mid and front during practice so u know what position your teammates are in during a game.

so, my top five skill related things

1. communication
2. holding down lanes
3. shooting while running to the corners
4. moving up when up bodies
5. locking down the lanes when down bodies, and not freaking out...

hope that helps.

Get a fast gun and keep the other team pinned behind their bunkers while the front player go in for the kill.

Don't assign yourself into one position, if you like playing back thats fine but try and shake it a little, see if you like mid or front more. Off the break, get a lot of paint in the air, to cover your fronts as they move. Once your in cover, put paint onto lanes to prevent the other team from moving up. Stay in constant communication with your teammates. Always be telling them where the enemies are. Even if they haven't moved, and you've yelled it a dozen times, yell it out again to make sure. Remember, it also lets your team know you are still in. Speaking of that, yell "OUT" as loud as you can if you get hit, because if you get out, your fronts are going to get bunkered, and soon. this way they can prepare a bit for it. If it's legal, use electrical tape to tape two pods together, a lid on either end, and toss that to your bunker at the start of the game. Its a handy way of making sure you have enough paint.

How do i know all this, even though I think I only played back once during a rec game? I read about it, and I suggest you do the same. It will prepare you, and anything like that will help.

I've played just about everything since about 2001 or so.
What I'm saying is that if you can't play every position on the field, you will never be that great of a paintball player.
