I liked them all and read them throughout a year a little while back. One of the middle books (forgot which one) was a little slow but if you are up to it, it is a great series

I have all 7 books and the comic book series that just came out. All very excellent books.
I have read almost all of Kings books and they all reference something about the Dark Tower or its influence in his other books. Many characters in the DT series appear in different books.
The story is incredible and the theme of the series really stays with you after you finish the last book.

I bought the first one but just haven't read it yet. I don't really know why, it's wierd for me because I normally read like a maniac but despite all the other books I've read and bought since I just haven't taken the time yet. Is it really that good?

Yea, I think my dad has all of them but I've only read the Gunslinger awhile back. I want to read them all, but I also want to read the Stand.

st finished the stand, VERY long but very good. get the original version if you can, its about 500 pages longer but fills alot of holes.

and about the dark tower, i read em my freshman year and they really are great. The gunslonger imo wasn't very good, but the 2nd was great (if not the best), 3rd was good, 4th was a big flashback and kinda slow at times,
5th has alot of stuff going on and is good just like the second, the sixth isnt that great, and the last is great except for the last chapters which seem incredibly rushed and not thought out.

see avitar

I've read all seven, and damn near committed them to memory (yeah I'm weird the sig explains it all). It's a fantastic series, and one of the few modern epics that's worth much more than the money you invest in them. If LOTR was too fanciful and Star Wars was too badly acted, this is the series to fill that void. If you want to get into it, get the hardcovers if you can. LIke BBaller31's pic shows, the artwork is bar none hands down fantastic.

the series was good enough for my roommate to get a gunslinger inspired half sleeve.

I stopped reading during the fifth book, I think, and haven't picked it up again. It became boring and a chore to read. If the last book is as good as everyone is saying, I may have to start reading it again.

I really like the first two. The first one is just so out there and surreal plus roland is a total bad ***. You could tell king was on so many psychedelics when he wrote it. I really want to find the original version though.

The second one is also very good. Didn't like 3 so terribly much, 4 was surprisingly good considering it was a love story. The last 3 are kind of disappointing since King wrote them all at the same time, 7 has some good parts. The ending though is one of my favorite for any series ever.

What happens if you don't? I have the stand sitting right next to me, and I read the 3rd and 4th a while ago.

I just started reading the 5th book again from the beginning.
